You will be in a state of constant confusion. Almost nothing assigned in the class makes sense and if you have questions get ready to answer them yourself because she won't be helpful. Honestly try to avoid at all costs.

Comment:

Her lectures are very conversation based but the topics are usually ones where there won't be any awkward silences. It's hard to fall asleep during class because the topics are really engaging, even if you aren't usually one to speak out in class. She is very easy going about assignments, as long as you get them done you get credit. Online exams!

Very easy class. You get 3 absences. If you participate and don't go beyond the 3 absences, you get an A. Her in-class assignments are super easy. Also, the midterm, final and any other quiz you do are take-home, online, and open book. No papers, no pop quizzes or anything like that. She likes what she teaches and knows a lot about sociology.

I really loved Dr. Pinsky! She incites great discussions and presents the material of the course in a relevant way. You use the required textbooks a lot in class, so you definitely need to have them! It's a decent amount of reading, but I enjoy the subject so I didn't mind at all.

Took an elective with her - Social Media and Youth Culture. It was based on her research from her sabbatical so the class was pretty interesting and not structured. She has a great personality and is very energetic and passionate about her work and classes. She likes to be interactive so expect to participate in discussions or draw on the readings.

She has a great personality and a huge interest in what she teaches however she gives A LOT of work and constant reading all the time. This can be difficult if you are overloading on courses like I was but still the class is very interesting as long as you have the time to read a 50 page chapter and write a detailed response constantly.

I loved this class. I never thought about society in this way before. I learned so much. It was actually very fun. Dr. Pinsky was very respectful and she is funny too! Everyone in the class loved her. I would DEFINITELY take another course with her.

This was a great class. I learned so much about how society. I don't get the negative comment below. (There were a few ignorant students, which might explain it.) Dr. Pinsky had a LOT of respect for us and she cared about all points of view. She LOVES what she teaches and her enthusiasm rubbed off on us. I plan on taking more courses with her.

I hated this class I found it to be so pointless, she's not helpful or understanding and her personality is so fake. she talks down to students and to tell the truth sounds abit ditsy herself. I would avoid any classes with her.

Very fair professor. She's so nice if you do the work & participate. Quizes are easy, don't have to study that much if you pay attention & do the readings. Very interesting videos. Our class was disrupted for personal reasons, but I still got a pretty full experience. I would take another class from her.

she's sweet and intelligent. pretty easy to get an a if you participate....most of the time i didnt even do the reading or little soc. outings to toy stores/church.
