He's passionate and understanding. He will help you improve as a writer and critical thinker. He was born to be an educator. I know that sounds cheesy, but his classes were really enjoyable, and I would absolutely retake his class if I could. He looks out for his students especially if you try.

He was a cool guy, but gave a lot of homework essays that made what couldve been a fun class super stressful and hard, as long as you do the homework you get a 100 on it so it wasnt terrible. He also loves to talk and monologues a lot so if you have an opinion and want to talk about it good luck. theres 3 major papers that were a lil difficult

If you want an English class that doesn't have a ton of papers, don't take his classes. Even though there is a lot of work, if writing is something you like to do or want to improve he's your guy. His lectures are interesting, he likes to use videos, and he does a lot group discussions.

Creative writing is a fun course if you actually enjoy writing/ want to learn more about the writing process as well as poetry. Mr. Patterson is a great teacher. This class is easy if you do the work which is not a ton.

Patterson's goal of the class is to increase your skills in writing and no busy work. There is a lot of homework for the first 2/3 of the class but it helps prepare you for the papers. This year he only gave 3 papers. He gave an extra credit assignment because someone asked for it. He gives very good feedback and is available out of class.

Overall Mr. Patterson is a great professor. The class is not hard, just do all the work he assigns and you'll be fine. He has it all scheduled for the semester, which is great. Don't take the class if you are not ready for a challenge. He is also very lenient and understanding. He likes to help his students succeed.

Mr. Patterson was a great professor who has a passion for learning and wants nothing more than to share that passion with his students. He teaches students very well. There is a decent amount of homework, but it makes you a better writer and it teaches you a lot. Overall, he was one of the best professors I have ever had.

I took this class just for fun and really enjoyed it. It was a creative writing and an easy A. If you put in effort on the story and poetry submissions along with the composition book then you can get a good grade.

Mr. Patterson has by far been my favorite English teacher at Cape Fear (and I've taken a lot of English classes just for electives because I love English). He's intelligent, passionate, caring, and if you ask for help he will go out of his way to provide it. It also teaches Creative Writing 125 which is amazing. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!

Mr. Patterson has been so far one of my favorite professors at CFCC. The homework load at first felt like a lot, but it honestly helps and prepares you. Expect to write at least a page or more for homework daily. Overall he cares that his students succeed and if you work hard you can pass the class.

Comment:

He is a very tough grader but has a strong reason behind everything he does. He genuinely cares about people and is knowledgable on many different levels. I stuggled to make a B but I learned a lot about writing and research and am better at both as a result. He is genuinely a good laid back dude with a good sense of humor. I highly recommend him.

Great teacher, he really has a passion for English which makes the class so much fun to attend! The course however is overall difficult so you have to work for your grade, but with the assistance of the teacher it is easy!

The lectures are fun, unique, and worth going to. There is a lot of work assigned that does make a diference in your grade. He has high expectations and is a tough grader, but he is clear and helpful. He is genuinely nice and trys his best to help you learn and grow as a writer.

This is no easy A but there aren't any tests and you'll get through it. He can be kind of pretentious at times but I think he is just really into the arts. You really have to work to keep up with all the assignments in this class but I've been through worse classes.
