Comment:

Dr. Shelley really knows her stuff and is not afraid to make you work for your grade. If you're looking for an easy A don't take her but if want to learn and are willing to work then she is a great professor! Sometimes I felt that the tests were harder than the material she covered so make sure you really understand the concepts.

Comment:

This class definitely isn't the easy A you expect coming into a Sociology class. She seemed pretty determined to give out some B+'s. The tests were a fair bit difficult and require a tad more than pure memorization. Overall, it was a fun class and I learned a lot. It also helped that she was a pretty cool and a fairly nice person.

Comment:

Dr. Shelley is a great professor, but she makes you earn your grade. Her tests are right out of her lectures, a little from the book, but not much, and they require a good bit of study time. She also won't bump up your grade if you attend every day, your test and project average is your grade. She is a big fan of the "honors college B+."

Dr. Shelley may not have been the easiest professor I have ever had but she is definitely one of the most influential ones on my college career thus far! She is extremely helpful and truly enjoys what she's teaching. Go to class, participate, and take good notes and ask questions! I would take this class again if I could!

Great professor, she really knows her stuff and has great stories and examples. I knew nothing about soc at the beginning but she made the class really entertaining.

She's really good at keeping the class engaged and you can tell she loves what she does. If you do the readings and reading guides for the articles you will do well. She's willing to help anyone who needs it. She wants you to come to class even though she doesn't take formal attendance. Pop quizzes, three exams, and a research project. Take her!!

She knows her stuff, and her lectures are very interesting but near the end of the semester it just gets boring and old. She gives three essays that are very easy, but she gives pop questions. Her test are pretty hard.

The only people who didn't like her were the ones that never studied and made bad grades.. Great teaching style. Keeps her lectures interesting. Participate & ask questions & she'll love you and help you out! She knows her stuff. Highly reccomended!!!

For an entry level course it was harder than I expected, and actually involved doing work and studying some for her tests (which are hard). But she's a really good teacher, and I think it was definitely worth it.

This class seemed like it wouldn't be very difficult. Boy was I wrong! Her tests are WAY hard. She does those stupid fill in the blank/example questions. Not a very good professor!! Avoid her if you can!
