Comment:

Prof Cannon is an amazing teacher but if you are expecting an easy A-don't. Her lectures are long DEFINITELY RECOMMEND A VOICE RECORDER! She likes those who speak in class. There will be A LOT of outside reading. She is very picky about grading as well. If it's not how she likes it, you most probably will not get a good grade.

Comment:

Professor Cannon is very demeaning to students she feels, "don't get it". Plus, she offers no other way to pass her classes other than "DDR", (Define, Describe, Relate), and essay mid-term and final. No paper, no quizzes and no extra credit of any kind. She reads from the books she has you buy and really can't elaborate on material beyond that.

Be prepared to take notes I recommend a recorder. You may be scared at first about the abundance of information but don't let that scare you. I was freaked out by the midterm and to my surprise received an A and believe me when I say I'm by no means an A student. She's very passionate about what she teaches which makes you that much more interested

Dr. Cannon's classes are small and would be great for seminar-style instruction, but she lectures - period - as if the room had 100 faces. She will take questions occasionally, but usually when her feet hurt. Make sure you read and thoroughly understand your texts, they WILL be on both all-essay exams which are the only graded work you will do.

Attendance policy is ridiculous, miss one lecture and your grade drop an entire letter grade. No papers, assignments, or quizes, just a midterm and a final. Exams come in two parts, they are difficult, a lot of writing. You have to own the material. She is very passionate about the subject and expects you to be as well.

Comment:

Dr. Cannon is one of the most knowledgeable professors I have every met. Her courses are not easy,and her exams are extremely hard, but if you take notes, listen, and read text book assignments you should be able to get an A. Also note that attendance is mandatory. She was the reason I chose Political Science as my major.

I don't typically review professors, but Dr.Cannon stands out. She is an old school teacher, on point, and very clear. She has a strong political voice, and really knows what she is talking about, especially in issues of Israel and National Security. I came to class, took notes, and participated, and walked out with an A.

Dr. Cannon is very passionate about politics and about this course.There is a lot of notes taking. She talks fasts and does not write on the board (only sometimes).There is no homework or writing assignments. ONLY MIDTERM & FINAL! Take good notes, listen carefully and read the book, and you will succeed. Good Luck! ;p

Comment:

One of the very few memorable professors I had at Northeastern. She is very passionate about what she does and wants you to learn as much as possible. You WILL work for your grade but you will be amazed at how much you learn. Like everybody here has already said, take notes and pay attention to details. Recording the class is not a bad idea either.

WARNING - Prof. Cannon's courses are not for slackers. Writing intensive exams that require detailed, thorough examination of the issues. She is highly supportive to all her students and will help in any way she can, but you will have to earn your grade! I did find that this course required a bit more textbook usage (and we had 3 books).

Knowledgeable, but if you are a student that has a learning disability that might cause you to have to use the learning resource center. If you are one of these students please take another instructor. She likes her students to take her test in her class. Best grade you can hope for is average if you take the test in the resource center.

Dr. Cannon is an awesome person and professor. Pay attention to details and DONT MISS A CLASS. You will learn alot and have a little fun too, but beware of her overexagerration of current events. Her "impending doom gloom" tends to freak students out, so stay sober.

If all teachers were like Cannon, we'd be living in a better world. She pushes you for your best because she knows its in you. Extremely tough but you will be amazed when you walk out of her class. Tape recorded recommended, extremely thorough. Highly recommended for those who are studious and responsible. CANNON IS INSPIRING!

Dr. Cannon is the best professor I have ever had, and I've had some great ones. I got an A in her class, but I truly would not have cared if I received a B due to all I learned in her class. Dr. Cannon is extremely knowledgable. Though she doesn't take attendance in her class, if you miss a day, you are setting yourself up for failure. The notes in class are CRUCIAL for you to get a good grade. This class has taught me so much. Dr. Cannon loves what she does and inspires learning in the classroom. She's wonderful!

She is a wonderful Professor! Totally loved her. However it is ALOT of work and if you're not willing to show up and take notes and study forget about taking her class! I took her in the summer so it may have been harder than usual but she is still tuff. However if you're willing to show up and do the work you will learn alot from her!
