His class might be useful and easy for those students who are majoring in script writing and fun arts , but may not for non-fiction writers or people from other fields. In CREW 140, you are required to watch a stage play and write a report. However, he will not teach you how to write it in the class. Plus unclear course outline.

Comment:

Frank was a good teacher, the thing I found tough was that if you really didn't know the correct format for a script you would have to ask him after class because he will not teach it to you. Overall, he was a good teacher and gave some good feedback on my scripts.

In a class that largely depends on format, we spend 15 minutes in the first week on it. Class time is spent doing drama exercises and workshopping when students do not fully understand format. Prof fails to be clear with expectations and feed back is "you did this incorrect, see me if you want to know more".

Interesting and honest teacher with good criticism and information; however, this is a 3 hour class that doesn't make use of its time. A lot more actual instruction could be given, because 2 hour work-shopping with hyper and directionless teenagers is incredibly annoying for the focused and goal-oriented student. (not really the instructor's fault)

Great instructor, goes above and beyond to help out his students and is great with critiquing, always showing interest in what the student is doing instead of trying to make the work more mainstream. Creativity and clarity is what he wants.

Frank's a cool guy. His class is interesting, and the structure is conducive to in-depth discussion and, inevitably, useful advice. I really don't have any bones to pick with Frank, which is rare in a teacher for me. His lectures are relevant, useful, and entertaining. His work, which I've read from the library, is powerful and evocative of emotion

Comment:

Really happy with his teaching style. He gives great suggestions, but expects you to weigh it's importance in your writing,and won't penalize you for dismissing it. It's obvious he's got a lot of experience and will meet with you outside of class to discuss your work. I suggest for anyone interested in writing to take this class,scriptwriter or no.

Very good prof to have if you are interested in that field. He doesnt have a degree or anything, just real hands on experience writing and making plays. Very helpful and class is surprisingly fun considering its 3 hrs long. Doesn't believe in textbooks or due dates, sweet.

Every class of his is interesting, as he always has something new and amusing for all of us to do. He's willing to answer juast about any question, regardless of how off-topic it is to whatever he was previously talking about. He's also filled with plenty of clever (and often hilarious) analogies.

Frank is a cool teacher. really laid back, he can take a joke, he's got hands-on experience with what he's teaching. as long as you actually do what is assigned, you shouldn't have any problems with him.
