Comment:

Dr. Bill was my favorite professor while I was a student at ODU from 1989-1992. I took every class I could take from him. He took me to lunch way back when and we stay in touch to this day. He is a true gentlemen, a gem of a professor and a wonderful man. I look forward to every Christmas because I know I will be getting a card from him!!!!!

Comment:

While attendance is not mandatory, his tests are solely from the lecture. You MUST go to class to pass. He is a fair grader. His experiences in life are unique which gives him a different perspective and approach. Take advantage of his office hours and get to know him. He has lived through so much and is someone to learn from outside of the class.

Comment:

A living legend; It is amazing that Dr. Bill is still teaching at 93. He is funny, charismatic and has tremendous lectures about his experiences in WWII and in Congress. Exams are based solely off of what he writes on the board. Take three of his classes and he takes you to dinner and you get a "minor in Dr. Bill". Love this guy so much.

He gives killer lectures. He was in Congress and has a TON of stories. He's pretty hilarious too. He is a tough grader though. Nothing will be on blackboard and you will have to take extensive notes. But if you're a political science major, you gotta take his class once. It's too good too pass up.

This man is an inspiration to all. He lived the history. Just take the notes off of what he writes on the board, and you'll get an A, but you'll learn a lot more just by showing up to the class and listening

Dr. Bill is a World War 2 vet. He was an ex-congressman with a lot of fantastic stories. Everybody in the class respects him. He was teaching at ODU well before it was half this size. It was an honor taking this mans class. Even though you have to do like a 12 page essay, the experience was awesome. He has a good sense of humor as well.

Dr. Bill has accumulated 90 years worth of his own first-hand accounts of amazing moments in history. And he conveys them to you as though you were all just sitting around at brunch telling stories. He is an amazing professor. There were 3 tests all based directly on notes he wrote on the board. My one complaint is that he only wants regurgitation.

20th Century Dicatorship. Midterm, final, choice of either writing a 2400word term paper or 4 book reports 2pages each and pgs of book must be at least 300+. Great professor, attendance isn't mandatory but his midterm and finals are literally based on exactly what he writes on the board.

Dr. Bill is the best professor in the history department, hands down. Brings tons of knowledge and his own experience and cares about his students. If you go to class you'll do fine. Take a class with him, you'll be glad you did.

Dr. Bill probably doesn't care for me but I adored him. Show up. I didn't and it cost me. Exams ARE the notes. He's a wealth of knowledge. He has his ways but he's a very decent person. There are 3 tests, 3 papers. That's it. Not a lot of room to make up for bad tests grades. I have A's on all papers, C- for class.

SO NICE! Amazing teacher. He really knows his information too. Hes soo funny. You can get a "degree" from him for taking 3 classes of his. Tests are just regurgitation of what he wrote on the board!

I received a minor in Dr. Bill, so yes I am biased. None the less, Dr. Bill is a great instructor, and moreover, a great person with a deep passion for academics. His experiences in the House, and his world travel experiences are second to none. Dr. Bill provided me the motivation to press forward and achieve my academic and professional goals.

One of the finest professors I have ever had. The best three hours of my week were spent in his class. Go to class, if he writes it down copy it as tests are based on his lecture notes. I'd take him again without hesitation.

Comment:

His is a good history teacher, because he enjoys history and teaching. For the class I took, he lectured in every class but he has a good sense of humor and only writes on the board what you need for the test. If you go to almost every class or at least get the notes, you will do fine! (book reports were apart of the grade)
