Bodolec was one of my favourite professors at UBC so far. He was remarkably kind and helpful, and not afraid joke around with his students to encourage class engagement. He expects a lot, but gives you tons in return. Hated french before this class, but really enjoyed going when he taught it.

One of my favourite profs! He's the funniest French man, ever! He's really nice and he loves picking on people in class (in a nice way so be prepared to answer his questions when he points to you, haha. He isn't a hard marker in my opinion, just pay attention in class and study. My pronunciation is 10x better because of him!

Monsieur Bodolec was awesome. Sure, he's a tough marker, but there are even times where he's feeling sympathetic towards struggling students and marks a little easier. He's also really funny and keeps the class lively. My pronunciation and grammar wouldn't be the same without him.

Great teacher. Very entertaining and good at teaching the information. Only problem EXTREMELY HARD MARKER! I'm at a B average student and I nearly failed the class! Make sure to really look at your punctuation

MONSIEUR IS GOLD! Best professor I had at UBC, hands down. Corrects your French all the time, both pronunciation and grammar. HARD MARKER though (no grammar mistake will be overlooked). I usually get A+'s in other French classes, but I only got A-'s and A's in his classes. But I didn't care. My french is so much better now, thanks to him.

If you're serious about improving your French, take at least one class with him. He corrects your pronunciation, and he points out the common mistakes that French learners make all the time. Not the easiest marker, but I didn't care because my french has improved significantly taking his class. un professeur extraordinaire

A UBC legend. Just awesome. Friendly, funny, helpful, and a fair marker. Even if you didn't necessarily enjoy French in high school or at other institutions, his French classes will be a very happy bit of your schedule. Great.

Took FREN122 & 123 with Bodolec! Such a funny+enthusiastic old man! He always makes class super fun and you learn lots at the same time too. Slightly hard on the marking but tests are okay! (I never took french immersion but I ended up with A- in both courses!)

Basically what everyone else has already said! He really livens up the class by always cracking jokes, seems to actually enjoy teaching. A fair marker. You'll learn a lot. Had him for 122 and 123, never bought the textbook but did fine anyway.

he is...AWESOME!! I hated french then I took his class and for the first time in ages I actually enjoyed going to class! He is hilarious and he really tries hard to include everyone. I liked that he really focused on pronunciation. His tests were also very fair and he marked very fair. I had no complaints!

French class is so hilarious. The most classic little old French man. One of my most enjoyable classes. The class is a good challenge, since you're always speaking in French, but Jacques makes it so much fun.

I had Jacques for both Fren 111 and 112, He is an awesome prof, he is really helpful and very funny during lectures. I loved going to his classes!! and probably the only class that I wanted to go for the whole school year. He is a fair marker, not that hard,he never marks things wrong when we have not learnt it before. I recommend him for french <3

I took his summer course. Although I despise 3-hour long classes, he made it relatively painless. A good prof, easy to approach, clear, funny, respectful and, yes, a rather stereotypical Frenchman (in a good way). His marking is a bit peculiar and somewhat difficult but not at all unfair. You should be able to get a high mark in his class.
