To be fair I'm horrible at math. Everything was fine for the first 6/8 weeks, but once I fell behind there was no saving me. As a professor he is serious but he knows how to teach a huge class.

Attended every lecture, extra tutoring, used all available resources, studied for days, and I still straight up failed the first test. His lectures suck and the test questions are ever so slightly different than the practice exams so that you get stuck halfway through. The only thing that saved me was open book exams thanks to covid.

If you go to class, do the work on time, go to office hours, and go to study groups/lion tutors you'll be fine. Lectures don't help much but you still need to go for clicker points.

He really was a good guy. He curved my 69% up to a C so I am very thankfully for that. However, if you did not take AP Calc in high school, you will be just like me and receiving a C in Math110. Save your GPA and take it at a branch campus over the summer.

Dr. Hager is a very interesting guy. He injects a bit of humor in all his lectures and PowerPoint slides, but it's sometimes odd. He does go through the material rather quickly, so if you don't have prior experience with calculus, this might be a difficult class. The exams are tough but he gives ample amount of preparation and study guides.

Really tough class - lots of homework assigned each week but it helps you get ready for the exams. He's tough but fair, focuses on the business applications a lot. I liked his teaching style - lots of clickers, tries to get students involved. Looking back, probably my best professor during the fall semester.

First, I am not a good math student but, I loved this guy! Large lecture style math is hard but he makes it work. Yes - he is really funny but he's serious about this course, and I learned a lot. Go see him during office hours if you really want to understand how to work the homework, and go to the GSGs.

If you have to take Math 110 , take Hager - he'll get you through it. Wicked smart, sometimes very funny but he'll go out of his way to help if you try.

Hager isnt good at explaining material and asks if we understand it, but it only takes one person to say yes out of 400 for him to move on. Dont wait until halfway through the course to get help since there are only 2 midterms and a final and bombing an exam makes passing hard. Hes an awkward guy who gives boring lectures but PSL helps you pass

Teaching wise, Hager was (in my opinion) not a really good teacher at all. The language he used did not make any sense and he spent majority of the class talking about himself and Stanford football/volleyball. This class is extremely challenging, especially if you have not taken calculus in high school. Highly recommend lion tutors for this class.

Honestly Hager is one of the worst professors I've ever had and I lived off of lion tutors to do well in this class. He FLIES through notes, it's not even worth writing them down. Once you get your 30 clicker points just stop going. It's not even worth it. Study the practice exams online and go to lion tutors and you'll be fine.

Hager is the worst teacher I have ever crossed paths with. He doesn't care about his students what so ever. He flips through slides at a rapid pace and the expects us to understand what he's saying as he just clicks through. I HIGHLY recommend Lion Tutors as they best prepare you for class, unlike his stupid GSG groups which he loves so much.

Hager is a man who some believe to be a great professor, while others do not believe hes all that great. If youve taken calc before this class will still be challenging because of the business applications, but if you havent taken calc, I would not recommend Hager as a professor as the basic concepts of calc are gone over very quickly.

Going into this class, I did not expect to earn the grade that I did. You definitely have to work for a good grade in this class though. GSG groups help, and the practice exams are very helpful. Go to class to get your clicker points. . Homework due every Friday (it's doable, but exams are much easier than the HW).

People love to hate on Hager, but the man is wicked smart. Can explain why Calc is the way it is through and through. Found that most people in class like to take advantage of his quiet attitude and talk the whole time rather than listen, then have the audacity to come on here and complain. Grow up, put the work in and youll be fine.

If you did not take Calc in high school, do not even try to take this course, trust me. I went to class and study groups and still didn't understand it. Dr. Hager likes to explain things in the most complex manner. We had a lot of homework due every Friday night, and overall I just felt so confused in this course even when I really tried.

Hager does very little in the way of helping you understand the concepts that he is attempting to teach during his lectures. Exams are super hard and take up 75% of your final grade. If you did not take calc in high school do not bother trying to take this class, it will not go well.
