Comment:

Professor McWilliams has been the best history lecturer I have ever met. His lectures are like stories and if you take notes from them you will remember everything without even having to study for it. I made a perfect score in every test and the only thing I used were my notes from his lectures.

Comment:

Loved Professor McWilliams! You tell he only wants to see his students succeed. His lectures are also so amazing! He tells every event through history like a story, only down-side is he talks a bit fast so you may miss material. Easy A if you just do what he asks, and he usually gives a review the day before exams with the required material.

He's an amazing professor. He really wants you to learn and will try as hard as he can to help you understand the material. Tests are essay based. He gives you the essay question beforehand and goes over the material before the test as well. Super easy to get an A in the class. He talks a lot for lectures but makes it fun. Just show up and listen.

This guy makes his lectures really interesting. If you just go to class it will be worth it. His lectures are really easy to follow and he makes the important points very obvious so there's no reason you could possibly fail if you just show up to class.

I would take this class again! He was so helpful and wanted all of us to do great in the class. He told us exactly what we needed to know for the tests. The class is majority memorization.

If you let it, this class may be the most interesting history course you will ever take. He is a fantastic story teller and teaches history the way it should be. He gives you the test ahead of time AND tells you the answers! All you have to do is practice writing the essay and have a pulse. Be sure to take the outline to the GA who grades it!

I would so take Mr. McWilliams if you could! He helps you so much and tells you exactly what he wants on the essay exams. There are I believe three exams and five homework assignments. Essays are very easy, homework can be a bit challenging but him and the TA's will help you out.

Comment:

Prof McWilliams was a great professor!! His lectures were interesting bc he gave us information in the form of a story rather than just spitting facts at us. However, if you don't go to class you will struggle on the essay formatted tests bc they are lecture based. I would highly recommend him to anyone taking HIST1310, its an easy A.

I have so much respect for Professor McWilliams! He is very passionate about what he teaches and he really cares about his students. Attendance was mandatory at first but he later said it wasn't, due to the number of students not showing up to class. I really recommend him!

His lectures are pretty boring unless you really like history. But he is funny sometimes. All the tests are essays which require a lot of memorization but he goes over every single point you need the class before the test. As long as you put every point you will get a good grade!

TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! He wants you to pass the class and is super sweet. No powerpoints/textbooks are used so if you skip you will miss a lot of material. The TAs grade your tests so be aware of that. He teaches like he's telling a story so it makes the class more interesting. Also attendance is taken into account of final grade if asked for a bump.

BEST professor Ive taken so far here at Texas State. History can be a really boring topic but he really cares about history and I never once get bored listening to his lectures. I actually enjoy and remember what he says because he is so engaging. No textbook or powerpoints so make sure you go to class. Has a review session before the test.

What an amazing teacher. I really recommend him his lectures are pretty interesting and hes very passionate about what he teaches. There are no powerpoints however so make sure you listen and come to class. No textbook is required for this class.

professor mcwilliams is a really cool guy! his class is an easy A if you listen and take good notes. He has review sessions before each test and he literally gives you the answers. his test are essay questions however so they require you to write about 4-5 pages to fully answer the question but its easy you just have to meomorize the review

Professor McWilliams really knows his stuff and is very passionate about it. His tests are pretty hard in my opinion but McWilliams is so caring and truly wants you to succeed. I didn't get the best grade on my mid term so he asked me to come in before the final so he could make sure that my final outline would get the grade I needed. Very helpful!

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. The only real grades you have are two exams. One of them is where you have 5 prompts (that are stupidly challenging) and you have to write a page response for each. So, you have one class time to write a 5 page response. If you can rock that, then you'll be okay, but if you can't write good and fast, don't bother taking it
