I love Dr. Rhee! She is one of the best professors I have had at SJSU! I would take a class with her any day! I really respect her as a woman engineer and I look up to her as a role model. You can learn a lot from her. Too bad she is not teaching next semester!

Comment:

Great teacher, clear, helpful, gives enough material and time to learn and understand the subject and grades fairly. Definitely recommend taking the online section, it is nice to have recorded lectures to watch in the comfort of home.

Comment:

Basically does things right. Answers questions (promptly and informatively at that), clearly delivers lecture, gives reasonable amounts of hw. It's just that her tests can be a bit too hard, and I think it's because she gives a exam supplement instead of letting you make your own. Leaves out a few key things you may struggle to remember.

Super easy class. She's helpful and clear, but I had to dock points because she doesn't focus on concepts. She mostly focuses on how to do the problems (but if that's what you like, great). BTW, HW problems come from the book, so you can't go cheap and buy an old edition.

Dr Rhee is well organized. She works problems in class which are useful for completing homework. If you don't do the reading before class she'll bring you up to speed in seconds, rather than make you feel like an idiot. Overall, fair, on top of it, helpful, instructive.

Dr Rhee is a very intelligent lady. She makes the material manageable. However I do not feel like she should be teaching Thermo at this time. She is obviously showing boredom with the class as she is teaching fast this year. Her partial credit is merciful but if you would like to learn, Dr, Rhee is not the preferred professor at this time.

Pluses: follows the book closely; Minuses: little intuition, excessive drilling. If you ask her a question, she'll refer you to an equation with delta Q in numerator and T in denominator, no further explanation. She'll make you suffer on the tests only to convince you that yes, number crunching can be made difficult. I'd stay away.

Amazing prof, clearly a genius but able to distill the info for my tiny brain. GREAT teaching technique: presents concept, makes you try it, then clarifies any questions you have. The lab was my only complaint, the mat'l didn't seem to fit well into the class, I didn't learn much from it, there was little feedback (and I had the good TA)

Good lectures. Very organized and clear. Goes over plenty of examples that aren't in the book giving you plenty of coverage for the tests. Speaking of which, her tests are very very difficult and long! Take her and you will understand the material by the end (if you keep up) and it is interesting stuff. Just be prepared to get killed on the tests.

People say this professor is good, but I just don't see it. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Rhee is a nice professor. But what good is a nice professor who's unorganized? Both the green sheet and labs aren't organized very well. Also, the second midterm was unresonably long.
