The class isn't too bad in terms of difficulty. The exam questions are literally information pulled from the textbook too, so you just have to read carefully when you study. He also posts reviews/study guides with topics you should focus on so you can hone in on your studying material a little better.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!! HE IS SO RUDE! his exams are extremely tricky and the TA grades the essays so harshly. I regret ever taking this class. avoid if you want to maintain your GPA. he doesn't care about his students. take it with someone else if you can.

830:101. Not the easiest psych teacher. He kind off just reads off slides with no real explanation on things. Exams are really hard. He curves it a little bit and you can get extra credit. Definitely not an easy A but if you put in work you can get at worst a B+. Study the book way more than his slides. oh and TA is an awful essay grader

Boring lectures and unclear tests with essays. Awkward to talk to and lots of homework. Probably would never take this class ever again.

Pretty much awful. The structure of the class is simple; 3 tests with extra credit opportunities. He gives study guides and posts notes (fill in the blank). HOWEVER, he flies through lecture and you spend the whole time coping not learning. don't bother asking to go back a slide either. I teach myself by reading the book and reviewing study guides.

He goes so fast during lecture just powering through it and if you ask him to go back he says i don't know what slide that is or if he does its for a second, three exams/non-cumalitive: first two exams are 40 multiple choice/1 essay then last test is just MC. DO the long practice exams and get at least a 56/80 to get the 2 points EC for each exam!

Nice guy. Goes really quick in his lectures- I don't think he's used the full 80 minutes once. His tests are similar to the practice ones online and as long as you pay attention to him you'll do fine on the exams.

Currently have him for Learning Processes (aka Conditioning & Learning). He is AWFUL. He goes through lecture very fast. I printed the power point slides (which has fill in the blanks) and still can't get all the notes. He snaps at students in class (never ask to go back a slide). His favorite words are ok, um, so, and right. Big curve on exams.

Attendance is important since the slides he posts online have blanks. Lectures are interesting and often end early. Practice exams are extra credit. Exams are 40 multiple choices, one short essay (he posts 3 questions online, puts 2 of them on the exam, and you choose to do 1.) Had him for Cognition and C&L, recommend both. Never used the books.

Course material can be tough and thus the tests can be a little confusing. HOWEVER this course might have the biggest curve at Rutgers. You need to beyond bomb to not get an A, something like 25% of class gets an A. Material can be interesting, but Ackroff is not. Expect crossword puzzles and stories of his vacation lifestyle.

I have no idea what most of the reviews on here are talking about. Ackroff is one of my favorite professors at Rutgers. I took Gen Psych with him and intentionally took Cognition with him because I liked his lectures so much. I have an A in the class right now just by going to lecture, taking the pretests, and doing some light reading.

Posts powerpoints with some empty phrases to fill in during lecture to help retain information No homework, 2 exams, 1 final, all have extra credit Only puts you in his research if you ACCEPT-other graders are definitely exaggerating Sometimes 20-30 min. lectures Tells (subtle) jokes I only read bookpractice exams, still got an A, don't worry

He's lectures are really hard to get through and the exams are multiple choice plus essays. He gives you four essay questions in advance, puts 2 on the exam but half of every question requires extensive outside research and it's just terrible. The exams are really hard too and I attended class regularly and read the book

This professor is not trying to teach you, he is experimenting on you. He makes students participate in his "research" and I'm positive that he then makes his tests based off of the answers his students get wrong and were uncertain about. Tests are insanely difficult; as hard as a diamond, but not nearly as pretty. Prof is curmudgeonly. AVOID!!!!

No matter how much you study, no matter how much work you put in, his exams are going to be the MOST OBSCURE exams you will ever take. He purposefully makes his tests so ridiculously convoluted that you will actually find yourself laughing as you're taking it. The worst professor I have EVER had. All positive reviews he has must come from him.

I am a 4.0 student and this class was hell. The exams are made to fool you and they definitely will. Ackroff goes out of his way to make it harder just for the pleasure of it. He doesn't respond well to people asking anything in class, and seems very annoyed that you disrupted his well-rehearsed lectures. Honestly, avoid at all costs.
