Comment:
Dr. Cummins is really experienced as a nutritionist, and most of his knowledge comes from his personal experience. His lectures are pretty straightforward, but his tests are not so clear cut. His questions can be worded weird, and he is a harsh grader. The class was fun though and a great choice for an elective.

BEST teacher I have ever had @ Auburn! U have to take him, my goal was to take every class he offered, which is 4. Very helpful, loves what he does! Very opinionated, but loves to hear what everyone has to say. Will work with u if u need it & grades very leniently. I took companion animal mngt, animals & society, & taking farm animal behavior next.

He's a cool teacher, but he WILL screw you over with grades. He isn't lenient with tests, and you can never understand what he specifically asks for in the questions, so you'll end up getting a lot wrong. Save your breath, and just don't take him for anything.

Professor Cummins was very clear in all directions that he gave and was overall probably one of the best teachers i have had at Auburn this far. his grading was a bit unexplained but he was very approachable and had a good reason for the way he graded. He really got to know his students and was interested in what was going on in their lives.

Companion Animal and Animals and Society. Interesting guy. Very opinionated, but keeps the students interest in lecture. Get to know him.. go to class. Grades are more than fair. Good guy to know and great classes for a GPA boost.

Animals and Society. Great Teacher! Really loves for his students to learn. Went on a trip on a saturday to dairy farm for 10 bonus points. Show up to all classes, can be boring at times but gives lots of bonus points. His tests are hard but he scales so no one gets lower than a C. With all the bonus possible you can still pull an A or B.

Companion Animal Management.. Liked Dr. Cummins a lot. Very opinionated man, sit in front and close to his desk.(He likes and gets to know those people better.) Definitely take your notes to study for the test and you will do fine!

I loved this teacher! We had alot of great class discussions, and the tests were essays, they were kinda hard, but we were seniors and it was a 4000 level, so it was expected. Everyone did well I think, and he was fun to talk with about his opinion!!!

Modern Livestock Systems ... He teaches fine & is fairly clear etc... but tests are graded very "off the cuff" - two people can have the same points in their answers and get different grades. (Exams were short essay response). Not my favorite professor in the department. . . but he is clear, and you do know what material you need to study, etc.

Well... he is very narrow minded. He is not open to ANY new ideas of training or behavior. Is information is very antiquated and conventional. I mean, it's not a particulary hard class if you come to class and have some sort of animal sense. It is not a bad class at all. I rather enjoyed it... but don't get your feelings hurt if he disagrees w/you.

Pretty nice guy. He knows his stuff. His daughter has a massive rottweiler that he brings to class along with some other pets. That alone bumps this class up into the "not so bad" range. Just study your notes and go to class and you will do ok.

I liked his class. I still have my notes from it. Go to class, take notes, study them and you'll do well granted you have a general interest in animals.

The class isn't hard but for a two hour course, you can find better classes. He is a jerk though, very opinionated; a large portion of the class he is preaching his soapboxes on animal rights, etc. If he's so caught up in animal rights, he's the dairy guy, ask why a dairy cow only live to be about 7

He made the test alot hard than they should have been. Do not take if you are a pre vet major. the elective will be a GPA killer.

Just a word of advice, if you are not a pre-vet major, don't take Cummins class: Companion Animal Management! He makes it harder than it should be and it will be difficult to get an A...and you must be very interested in cats and dogs.

Comment:
Gives notes straight from powerpoint. Lectures are interesting. Only 2 tests, a paper, and a final exam. However, the paper, a test, and the final were all given in the last week of class so 75% of your grade hinged on the last week of school which sucked
