Comment:

As hard as this class was, I will say that the hardest of books are now easy to read. Ever heard "Tristram Shandy"? Me neither, but she's an expert. Hardest book I've ever hard to read, and I like 19th Cen. French lit. (yes, that's weird). She's very knowledgeable, but stick to MLA, and expect papers (she charge of writing -intensive classes).

She is a tough grader. Also, she is very particular when it comes to following the MLA. She has a great personality, but I will say she knows the period too well and isn't up for you creating your own topics because she knows everything which sucks. She doesn't allow for creativity when it comes to paper and stick by the books.

Dr. Bowden is underpaid and overqualified, so don't expect any sloppiness. Knows her stuff and is incredibly passionate about literature. Make sure you look at all the rubrics or assignments and follow them closely. If you want an easy "A", do NOT take this professor unless you are willing to work for it. She is also a stickler for attendance.

Comment:

Restoration Lit with Bowden proved to be one of my favorite classes in college! She does not give tests, only extensive writing assignments, which only make you a better writer. The big assignments aren't due right on top of the other. Only problem was amount of weekly responses, but I managed to get 10s on all of them, so you can too! TAKE BOWDEN!

I took Dr. Bowden this past semester. She requires a blog participation and you need to read to be able to participate in class. (She'll notice if you don't.) Her big pet peeve is technology in the class, so put away your cell phones and laptops. Her papers are not too tough if you pay attention to what she wants and really work on your MLA format

I took this class honors, and Dr. Bowden is wonderful! She grades papers fairly and is very clear about what she wants. She gives you the grading sheet she will use to grade the paper so you know what is required of you. This class was very interesting and I learned a lot. She is willing to help you if you ask her.

The course syllabus looks rather intimidating, but professor Bowden is a GREAT professor! My 1101 class was a joke, so 1102 scared me a bit, but this wasn't hard at all. She explains what she wants very clearly and as long as you do what she asks, you should get an A! Definitely recommend you taking professor Bowden!

Dr. Bowden is a wonderful professor! She is strict, but only because she wants you to do your best. If you are in class to learn, you will excel, but if you don't plan to put in any effort don't take her because all you will do is complain. A short paper is due every week, but no tests which is awesome. If you want to learn, take Bowden.

Very good professor. Definitely knows what she is talking about, but do pay attention to the attendance policy. She doesn't mess around with that. Extremely approachable. She will help you in any way she can, believe me. Take her advice to heart. Again, she's just a great professor overall.

I like that this professor assigns writing instead of tests; however, she does not give you a reasonable amount of time to complete assignments. If want I good grade from this professor, be advised that you must study for her course more than six hours per week. Be prepared to sacrifice other things you have going on in your life.

2nd time taking Dr. Bowden, very awesome teacher. Knows her stuff and is passionate about it. Lots of reading, but it's an English class so it's to be expected. Very friendly and funny, though her jokes may fly over some peoples' heads. I only got a B due to missing 4 classes. She takes 10% of your grade for missing more than 3, so GO TO CLASS!

She is a great professor. My favorite professor yet. She is extremely passionate about her subjects and will do whatever it takes to help her students learn. She gives a great deal of detail, but she tells you all the fun stuff the book wouldn't tell you. I wish I could take more classes with her!

Dr. Bowden is a fantastic professor! But she isn't easy. I'd love to take her class again, dispite my 'C'. Listen to her comments after the first essay and all the following ones because she will give plenty of feedback. In my class, we did a lot of online discussion, but they made up for classdays. Do them. She is hard but in a loving canadain way

Comment:

Good professor. Recommend her especially for English majors. She will push you to improve your technical skills as well as your knowledge of 18th cent. lit. Strict attendance policy--can miss 3 times. You will write a response to the readings every week plus several papers. Requirements are not onerous for a 4000 level course.
