Comment:

Professor Stirling grades harshly, which would be fine except for the fact that she doesn't give good feedback-think a one or two word response on a paper-plus, this is a first-year beginning English class. She does offer her time during office hours but was late/left early several times. Follow her criteria to a T; otherwise prepare for a B.

Comment:

Very thankful for Professor Stirling. I found her to be fair, clear in her grading, funny( in a good way),and always willing to help. I learned so much about writing, and this class help me to build my confidence as a student. If she taught literature, I would take her class again.

My favorite professor this semester. Her class is super easy, but I did notice people were struggling (and a lot of people dropped out). Don't even try to hand anything in late, she will just make you look dumb. Syllabus is straight forward, you will spend maybe 4 classes talking about Work Cited, which is boring if you it already.

i found this class tough but it can be because i am taking 4 other classes. however, i thought she was mean and i was scared to answer in class ( i usually participate a lot in class )

TERRIBLE. SO BAD. She's really just not a nice lady. Things MUST be done her way. She won't even let you argue your idea she'll just say you're wrong and mark you down points on the assignment. Homework is NOT COMPLETION so get it right or your grade will suffer. Literally every point counts. easily worst decision I've ever made taking her class.

Probably the worst decision I have made so far. If anyone else is reading this, do not take this class!! Your gpa will pay for it. Drop the class ASAP and if youre stuck in the class for the whole semester I wish you luck. She is cranky and very unclear about what she wants and doesnt explain when you ask questions.

A lot of students in my class complained about her. I honestly believe she was a good professor. She will go over MLA a lot, and in turn, you can drop your grade by not following the rules she sets clearly at the beginning of the class.

This professor shows you what you need to know in class for your assignments, if you do them you'll get an A. She shows you step by step what you need to know to pass . Very helpful professor, if you ask her what you can improve and she will tell you especially during office hours!!!!

She's an okay professor. You really have to work hard for your grade, but just do the assignments and pass all the papers and for sure you'll pass. At first, it feels like I didn't learn anything from her, but when it came down to the research paper, I realized my writing improved. She's a good professor.

I thought other ratings were exaggerating with her score so I took it but I didn't like the class at all. I read the assigned reading and although I found the text interesting, she made the class boring and she is quite mean and not helpful. Ended up dropping it.

She was incredibly mean and rude at the beginning of the semester. More than half of the class dropped her class due to her rudeness and vague teaching. And when you ask her a question she just tells you to figure it out on your own. She's a harsh grader, complains about everything. The risk is yours to take~ Good luck.

I learned so much from this professor. Her class is not easy, she makes you work for your grade. If you attend class, turn your assignments in on time and are active with in class discussion, you will do well. She has no time for poor excuses and focuses on preparing you for English 102. My writing improved tremendously by the end of the semester

I just finished her class. I think many students don't want to work hard and expect the teacher to be easy or super lenient. She may be cranky at times, but who cares? She does not pick favorites. I received an A in this class because I put effort into my papers and formatted them perfectly. Her "criticism" is really helpful. I highly recommend.

she is a really hard teacher! I knew from the beginning she HATED ME. Attendance was a part of the grade, I was always late and got an F in attendance. I got a C on one a paper, 2 low B's and a couple A's I STILL GOT AN A IN THE CLASS its mainly because I wrote a KICK ASS research paper. She wants her students to do well and challenges them.

If you absolutely need English 1 and she's the only available professor, might as well take her. But if not, don't risk your gpa. I worked really hard in this class and ended up getting a B. Her grading was a bit too harsh.

This woman is horrible! I took her despite the other reviews. BAD IDEA! If she decides that she doesn't like you on day 1 you should just drop because there is no turning back. She is inconsistent with due dates, unclear about her expectations, and is generally a cranky old lady that should have retired a long time ago.

Ms. Stirling was extremely helpful. She was extremely clear about what she wanted on assignments and tests. Her projects were a bit time consuming especially the research paper, but they're manageable. I think she grades on a curve because I was given an A when I expected a B. I fully recommend her.
