Maura is an outstanding professor, and she explains things very clearly and cares for her students individually! Super sweet lady sometimes gets carried away and rambles about her personal life or some story or opinion for hours. Overall very good class!

Spanish is my Major and this course is definitely required for my degree path. When i walked in to her class she was excited to be there and teach the class about Hispanic culture and conversation. I'll always remember this professor. Very fair

Comment:

Profesora Rainey gives excellent lectures (although often ridden with tangents) because she presents historical ideas with analysis and plenty of background information. She presents herself well, is always well dressed, formal enough, and is genuinely caring about students. Sometimes class gets off schedule but everything gets covered eventually.

Profe Rainey is simply amazing! She is a very professional and classy woman who is very good at teaching and very knowledgeable. She will make you earn your grade and learn Spanish, and will accomodate to meet students during her office hours. Will definitely take her other courses in Spanish as well.

I took her Spanish 1010, I enjoyed having as a teacher. She is very passionate. I agree with other commenting that there is a lot of homework and Websam is time consuming. But I would take other class of hers.

She assigns way too much homework, it reaches a point of ridiculous, WEBSAM takes way too much time to complete her tests are hard to understand and she will not help you understand the question. she is a funny professor and a great person, but her class just has a ridiculous work load

Comment:

I took her for Spanish 3010, which was supposed to be a conversation and composition class, but in reality was more a Hispanic (both Latin American and Spanish) history class with some culture, which interested me even more. She is an amazing woman and an amazing teacher, one of the best I've ever had. Fun, interesting class, GREAT PROFESSOR.

She is overall a pretty good professor. She makes things interesting, and speaks completely in Spanish most of the time (which is extremely clear, but sort of hard to remember what's taught). A native from Cuba. She has a slight preference for native speakers, but will work with you. She "doesn't do stress", mostly meaning don't stress her out haha

Although we bumped heads, I have to say she is a wonderful professor and truly enjoys and believes in what she teaches. She pushes each student the same, expecting nothing less than your best. History of Latin America: Follows the text book verbatim. The book had an error: 2011 for the 'final' year of the calendar of the Maya, instead of 2012.

One of the best professors that I have ever had!!! She has a true passion for what she teaches and doesn't let the potential of a student become limited by their own preconceptions of what they think they can do, she pushes you!

Rainey is a difficult professor because she's so passionate about Spanish, but she's also one of the most helpful professors because she wants you to be passionate about it, too. She lectures a lot and gets off topic, but she's fun and will talk about anything with you. If you're into Spanish, definitely take one of her classes.

Profesora Rainey is the most inspiring teacher I have ever met. She truely loves what she does and enjoys sharing her wealth of information with young and inquiring minds. She is by far the best teacher, friend, and mentor I could ask for.
