Comment:

Dr. Holdren's class was awesome if you are an art-lover. His teaching style is clear and concise and he is straightforward about which material will be important on the tests. However, I was a little put off by his frequent use of the phrase "that really get's me off".

Comment:

Amazing teacher, just amazing. He shares his opinions freely, which may bother some, but he's not belligerent or irritating about it. Very very nice man, though as a shy person he could be a bit jarring at times. Don't be afraid to raise your hand if you know the answer, and study REALLY hard for the tests, they're specific as possible.

Very interesting and LOVES what he does. He's helpful and easy if you pay attention and take notes. His quizzes are specific but if you were in class you're likely to know the answer. I was so excited for this class and i can honestly say i took alot away from it!

Comment:

He is a very good teacher and very passionate about art. However, his quizzes are very tricky sometimes. I went to every single class, studied very hard, and still would only get 5/10 on some quizzes. He is very flexible and understanding. I would recommend taking the class, but using quizzes from people who have already it. Youll learn a lot!

I think, it is the best professor ever. I have learnt so much with him. I feel comfortable to go to any museum of the world and guide other people about artists and their work. He is great!

I really like Holdren as a teacher. He is funny and makes things understandable. I enjoy his class. The only bad thing I need to say his that his quizzes are extremely hard. I have not made above a D on any of them and I go to class, take notes, and understand the material. I am relying on atleast a C in this class but it doesnt look too hopeful.

Amazing class! Definitely worth going every week. He keeps it interesting and will often talk about news events before teaching (just for fun). Also shared some SNL videos and clips from the Jackson Pollock movie towards the end of the semester. Learned a lot about art and since he's so passionite about what he's telling you, it sticks.

I didn't like the class, but the teacher was really nice and helpful. The tests are 3 essay quesitons on paintings and you have to write all kinds of technical things. Not really easy, but he doesn't grade hard like most other art history teachers.

Great teacher! Very intellegent and informed about what he is teaching. The class gives a ton of info to remember for the test, but he always reviews over the main things you will need to know. Very passionate and enthusiastic about his job and makes the class interesting. I would def reccomend him

Very nice teacher. Has a passion for what he speaks about. Willing to help and answer questions. Make sure you are following along and understanding because if not you won't do well on his tests. The tests consist of three essays.

Def. wasn't an easy class but very interesting. He was very well learned and had traveled to most of the places which we discussed, which really helped. He was a fair grader, but the class def. takes some skill at memorization and application in essays.

I remember Holdren being very enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. I always enjoyed his classes. And maybe I'm a perv, but I think he may have even been good looking in that older man, super-mega-intelligent professor sort of way. I particularly remember him talking about some Epyptian goddess statue and stammering when he had to describe the Egyptian version of feminine perfection. It was priceless.

Mike is cool... classes are kinda boring so it helps if you have friends in there with you. He is really enthusiastic and talks a lot about his kids. There are only 3 tests over the semester, but they are all essays.
