One of my favorite professors for sure. He is funny and always encourages good discussion, but is never forceful. There is a lot of homework but it's never too hard. I have taken him two semesters in a row and have loved taking his IH classes.

Professor Roessler give a lot of work for a gened course. None of it is hard by any means its just inconvenient and frankly, unnecessary. He is very understanding and accommodating though which is nice. He is flexible with due dates as long as you keep in contact with him which was great.

hes average at best. cracks a funny joke here and there but the class is boring as hell. claims he wants to limit the amount of homework he assigns, then tells you to read 80 pages for the next class. assignments and instructions are unclear at times as well. if this class wasnt required for my major i wouldve dropped it sooo fast

do yourself a huge favor and take IH1 with another prof. ridiculous amount of work and stress for a gen ed. every other person i've spoken to has had it MUCH, MUCH easier than I do right now. constantly upset about how the workload is more than what is it for most of my major classes.

Too much work but I really liked Norm, he was funny and a nice dude. It's one of those "write a blog post" type of classes a couple times a week. The papers are totally doable, like 750words or 3 pages. The final paper is 10-12 pages! Not fun if you're not in a writing-intensive major. If you have him, you'll survive but I wouldn't recommend.

He's an interesting professor. His discussions are very confusing and all over the place. However his homework assignments, while they are tedious and a lot, are graded based on completion not on the quality of the assignment. I thought his class was average. Not too hard but its not an easy A.

Toughest teacher I've taken at Temple. He is very unclear when it comes to projects and homework and gets snappy if you don't understand him.

He assigns assignments every other day. Now, they may seem short, but with 4 other classes to worry about these assignments are tedious and annoying. There are so many GenEd teachers; don't take him. WAY TOO MUCH WORK.

Took him for Mosaics 1. Passionate about the subject, but way way too much work for a required course. Tries to sound smart with huge words, but ends up just being very unclear. 10 page paper for final. Don't take if other options

Comment:
I took Dr Roessler for Honors Mosaics II. Class is structured so you do a discussion board post and then have a socratic in class discussion about it the next day. I feel like this guy tries to intimidate you with big words a little bit but in the end just wants you to do well. Challenges your thinking. Decent workload, more than typical Mosaics.

This guy was a complete nightmare. First his addition of the letter X to Mosaics, He's a professor he should know how to spell. He gives way too much reading, and fails to put up assigments intill literally the last 5-9 hours before they must be turned in. And he failed to teach me how to spell assignments correctly.

Roessler is the type of professor that makes you think differently, but he was WAY to much for me. My major requires a lot of my attention and focus, and while mosaics is an important course, I just left that there was a ton of tedious work. I got a B and WORKED for it. An A is totally attainable, but expect to work.

Not a fan at all of his teaching style. Makes discussion uncomfortable and students are unwilling to raise their hands. Work is pretty easy, just make sure you complete everything and you'll be fine. Really wish I didn't get him for Mosaics

Comment:
60% of the class is completion so that's easy. However, the other 40% is the midterm and final. He is an extremely hard grader on both of these. If you set up a meeting with him and put in the work though you should get at least a B on both. Also he can be very funny in lectures but is also sometimes pretty dull.

Roessler was probably the most insightful teacher I've had at Temple. Going back and fourth from hating his lectures to being mind blown I'd say this guy is worth the time and effort. If you can't write, he will whip you into shape!

Everything you need to about Norm's class 1. He's a great guy, not condescending and encourages class discussion. 2. SIXTY percent of your grade in this class is just doing 250-word blurbs on blackboard, couple a week. 3. There's quizzes, or tests, or reading checks. 4. Very unconventional, class discussions can get funnyuncomfortable.

Comment:
Unconventional, but you'll learn a lot as long as you keep an open mind. He makes himself very available (especially for final paper conferences). Easy A, since half of the grade is from completion-based writing assignments and another quarter is from participation (just talk a lot). Can be pretty vague, though, and doesn't give much feedback.

Professor Roessler is a great teacher. Classes are for the most part mandatory, although he does not always take attendance. There are several discussion board posts as well as a 750-word sketch due at the end of every week, so if you complete all of them and participate in class, you should do well. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

as a person he is very nice. but as a professor he is very confusing. his requirements for assignments are vague and he is a quite a hard grader. makes alot a weird references when he talks. make sure to do all the sketches and Dbs. it will significantly help your grade. overall, he is okay. not awesome, but not horrible either.
