Comment:
The exams do not at all reflect what he teaches in class. His lectures consist of him rambling on for 30 minutes about unrelated topics and then sloppily doing a problem for 20 minutes. Do not take under any circumstances.

Comment:
Hes a good guy but a bad teacher. The concepts are not to bad but his tests are much harder than the other teachers. Taking physics 2 and his class did substantially worse on the first exam. he tends to go on tangents and the stuff he does in class is loosely related to the tests. HW answers online but you better of doing it to prepare for exam.

Comment:
The tests are very concept-oriented, however, he doesn't do a good job of explaining concepts. Homework is hard and not like any tests or problems done in class. Try to avoid taking the class with him, however, if you do, try to understand the concepts really well.

Comment:
He drones on about unrelated matters and 10% of the lecture is actual content. That 10% though is barebones and not presented clearly. The homework barely reflects the lectures and the exams don't reflect the homework, lectures, or practice exams. Do not take him. If you have to then you're better off skipping class and reading the book.

I had him for PHY 203, 204 and 205. He's the best for 204 and 205, good not great for 203. If you email him with questions about the homework he'll get back really quickly and be really helpful.

He's an alright guy and an alright teacher. His old-timey stories that end up being tangent to the lecture kind of make lectures worth going to, but you don't have to go. Class is 3 exams, a bunch of HW and Recitations, and a final.

Terrible teacher, I don't see how he hasn't been let go. 90% of the students in my class attend Dorca's lecture and then only come to McCorkle for exams. I usually don't bash teachers but today we spent the entire lecture period trying to figure out why F=2ma when it doesn't and he didn't want to say he was wrong. I havent learned anything from him

Really nice guy, but his examples in class weren't clear enough for you to thoroughly understand the material. Random quizzes during class for extra credit. Need to really study for exams to pass them

He does his job. He can be unclear when going through problems, but you can always raise your hand and ask questions. You have to really pay attention though to retain skills from his lectures. Attend Dorca's lectures if you can; he does a better job of going through problems.

i had gotten a 4 on the AP physics test so this class was easy for me. that being said, mccorkle was not a very good teacher. attended dorca's lectures because he was a much better teacher. the examples mccorkle goes over during class don't help much, they are often different than the problems on tests and web assign.

Easily one of the best teachers i've had. He goes through the concepts well and his tests are very fair. Veey nice guy and willing to help. If you don't well with him, its probably your own fault.

He is known as the scrabblemaster extraordinary! Not that bad of a guy- helps you with webassign issues. Otherwise completely useless seeing I took the class in high school. Learned nothing new and fell asleep every class. But, I would play scrabble with him any day!

He's a nice guy, but he can't teach at all. He goes off on random tangents about his past experiences that have nothing to do with what we are learning. I learned nothing from him. Half the time you don't even know what he's talking about. You learn most of the stuff from Webassign, the recitations, and the practice exams. Get Prof Dorca if you can

The overheads are hard to read, especially if you aren't sitting in the front row. He doesn't explain what he's doing in enough detail while going over problems. His lectures weren't very useful to me. On the other hand, he's a really nice guy and he'll take the time clarify anything if you ask him.

I regret taking the course one of the orientation leaders told me it was easy. He lied. You dont have to go to class which makes it worse and if u do decide to go a few classes before a test it doesnt matter the guy puts me to sleep and it seemed like his lesson was on the same thing every time i went.

He's a very nice guy, but the class is useless. He doesn't spend class time actually covering material, just fiddling around with the instruments.

Awesome guy. Super nice and he listens to anything you want to talk about. I met with him several times to talk about the class and my future and he really helped me out. Can't say enough about this guy.
