Comment:

The class was extremely interesting at the beginning of the semester, but it got progressively more boring. However, Steckel is an awesome teacher, very passionate about his field, and I learned a lot. He makes a rather boring (at times) subject enjoyable, manageable. Fair (maybe generous) grader. Take notes, make good outlines, and you'll do fine.

Comment:

This professor is extremely knowledgeable and communicates his points clearly. However, he is one of the toughest graders I have encountered. In order to achieve a high grade, you must write EXACTLY what he said in class--no deviation. I missed too many points due to this.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Steckel knows the material well and presents it in an interesting way. I really enjoyed this class and would recommend this professor to anybody. If I could take another class of his, I would.

Take this professor! You will learn a whole lot. Prof. Steckel is brilliant and his lectures are very interesting. Essay midterm and final are great tests, make good outlines and you'll do fine. However, the group project is a bit of a pain. I would have preferred it to be worth about 15% of the final grade instead of 30%. Steckel is a class act.

This class was pretty good. There was a lot of interesting, useful material, and the tests were straightforward. Group project was kind of annoying, but just do your work and study for the tests and you'll do fine. But I guess that's true for any class.

I was interested in the material for the first class and a half. After that, I couldn't stay awake in class. He's a really nice guy, but a hard grader. If you're here to get a good GPA, then don't take his class. If you can't take criticism, then don't take his class. If you really want to learn the material, then I suggest you take it.

He really knows what he's talking about in this class. I found it interesting. Make sure you go to class and pay attention to details. You need to be able to quote numbers and examples on the essay exams. The group project is a pain.

I took two of his classes and he tests the same in both: you must say EXACTLY what he wants anything less and U will get ripped up.Hard grader. Dont take this class unless you have to. Go into his extra hours and havem HIM write your "outlines". If you dont, ur GPA will slide. Dont be misled b/c hes nice in class.

Tough but fair grader. Did tend to go off on tangents but if you think about it they always related in some way to the topic at hand. Knew the material really well. The class coudl do without the research paper or be better off with some modified version of it, Very tough to coordinate times to meet for such large groups I would take him again

TERRIBLE! He totally rips you on tests unless you say exactly what he wants. The outlines are a stupid way to grade the essays. He harps on little details and takes off HUGE if you forget any in the essay. He made us do group papers on a pre-assigned topic, & the topics didn't relate to class at all. Class is a total waste of time & money.

HORRIBLE! worst professor i have ever had here. his test are set up so hardly anyone does well and then his reasons for grading you poorly are that you did not have 1 little detail in your essay. i would not recommend him to anyone. if you like a good GPA, take someone else. awful...just...awful.

STAY AWAY!!! Horible teacher!! His lectures always stray off topic and he mumbles the important parts. Looks for key words in essay final and if you dont have the word but have the concept, you still fail. Imposible to relate to him. Other teachers are amazing at teaching 515/516 but he sucks!!!

his test are a scam. if you can figure out the formula, you get an A, otherwise you get screwed. I went to a review session and he gave us outlines for each essay on the exam, when i followed them, i ended up with a horrible grade. very boring and only cares about his research project. try to avoid
