Class was interesting at times, but really didn't like challenges with him. Even after coming into office hours multiple times, I never got above a b+ on my work. Maybe he just hated my writing style, but it was annoying because he was hard to please. Overall, easy to get a B if you show up, hard to get an A.

McVaugh is a great professor who really cares about his students. He is my advisor and the person I go to for any question I might have related to Colgate or his class. He is very accessible and his class is very interesting (emphasis on very in both cases). Take his class if you are considering it. Just do it. Stop thinking and take it.

McVaugh is a great professor. He is very wise, articulate, and interesting. Modernity with him could be confusing if you don't figure out what he wants (which is pretty unique). But if you talk to him about it and work hard for it you'll be fine. A tough but reasonable grader. Extremely rewarding. I thoroughly enjoyed Modernity with him.

He's a great professor to take Challenges of Modernity with. He definitely knows his stuff. Even if you're not very interested in some of the texts, he does his best to make it fun. Also great to talk to outside of class :) it's a little challenging to score in the As, but not impossible.

He knows architecture and knows how to teach it. Take his class if you can. He might give you some challenging tasks, but you will learn a lot. Overall, he's a nice (not fake nice) prof comparing to other profs in the department.

Nice guy, easy to get a B+ but gives out almost no A's. He's a little too "abstract" on his lectures sometimes, but keeps classes pretty interesting

How can you resist McVaugh saying, "This is a very sexy book." Really funny and easy-going. He loves his Macs so don't bring up PCs in front of him. Fair grader and very helpful.

Professor McVaugh is wonderful and so, so knowledgable on his subject. Lectures are very interesting and even though the class is huge and you can get away without going, they are definitely worth attending for. McVaugh is an old-timer who has lived in Hamilton forever and really cares about his students.

Great Teacher. Clearly explains everything that you were suppost to read. Lectures are very engaging. If you take good notes to use to study and right papers, then you can get away with skimming the books or not reading at all. I also learned a lot from his class. Great teacher.

mcvaugh knows a lot about the material, and always tries to help the student to the point that he makes it more confusing. however, he is a great advisor and his exams were easy if you studied the buildings. he loves students that bring in their own opinions and outside information into his essays. i loved this class!
