Very slow which is great, exams have the same format each time so no surprises... Made the orgo class pretty chill (ie he makes it easy for you to study, no stress). He uses another textbook (from the one assigned) for his slides, if you find it you literally don't have to go to class! Study more than the others you get an A

Just gave the appearance that he could care less whether the students learned the material or not. Lectures were not very organized and half the exams were over materials never introduced in class.

Very clear, very interesting in class. Gives some ridiculously hard problem for problem sets / tests, but the curve is good, and if you go to class and read the book you'll do fine.

best orgo professor for 204. clear enough if you pay attention. extremely helpful and truly cares about his students. go to his office hours, study his notes and the reactions from the text book and you'll get an A. Million times better than Giering or Laursen. I got a C+ on 203 with Rubio but an A with schaus on 204.

He's a bit boring. His notes are a good guide for what you needed to study, you just had to put in a little extra to understand what he was attempting to show with each reaction. He's a much better prof than giering because he didn't rush through topics and he seemed to care about his students; he had extra office hours and he had review sessions

For a class that meets first thing in the morning, this was remarkably organized and the professor made a serious effort to keep things engaging. He obviously cares about his students--go to his office hours for extra help.

hated this class. the lectures seem very haphazard and not organized in any meaningful way. he just tosses reactions at you and you have to figure out what it means from the book. but the tests are fair and he gives you lots of practice test/problems, so he isnt all bad. but if you can take giering, do it.

I could not stay awake without coffee and he never explained what he wrote on the board. He assumed we just knew the mechanisms and his lecture notes online were no help. The only thing that saved me was a study group with kids who knew orgo already. He is simply not a good professor for such a large lecture. I wish I took Giering for CH 204.

I was able to stay awake in lecture which is surprising for an orgo class. Tests are extremely fair- if you go to lecture and put in the time at home reviewing the book and his practice problems you can easily get an A. Wonderful teacher!

Going to lecture is really important because his notes online don't cover everything. A lot of material, but keep up with the reading and do all the problems in the back of the book and his practice sets and you will be all set. He knows what he is talking about!

Professor Schaus is remarkably intelligent, and has an unquestionably firm command on the subject matter. As a result, I ended the semester feeling very orgo-competent.

LOVED this professor! I took Jones the semester beforehand and hated orgo. I actually even liked the material when Schaus took it. Really clear material and tested directly on what he went over in class. And I had a litte crush on him.... I think he knew too

Comment:
In a nutshell, ok professor, but not of the caliber that Giering was. Mumbles a lot, lectures are extremely boring, and often has trouble articulating his thoughts. However, he was very good about putting up adequate practice problems, and in answering questions one-on-one. Also, grading system was VERY generous.

The professor was the most hardworking guy I have ever seen. He was willing to help and give extra office hours and review sections. The workload of the course was heavy. But if you study his lecture notes, you will be fine. Grading system was nice too!
