Comment:
Moderately challenging course, I recommend recording her lectures and going back and listening to exactly what she says in order to get the most accurate information for the notes. Powerpoint slides are often pictures with little to no description but she talks about each slide in depth so you need to know what she says about it. Don't skip lecture

Comment:
Her lectures and the slides don't help much on the exam, but you still need to go because she doesn't post all of her slides online. She rambles a lot in lecture and is boring to listen to in general. To pass look at the study guide questions and try to find the answers in the book but even then she asks questions that aren't in the book or slides.

One of the best professor at the bio department. Study lecture slides and her study guide before exam. Read your textbook. And you will do fine. Hands on dissection in the lab is amazing. She gave 3-4 extra credits on every exam and lab practical. And she dropped the +/- grading at the end for our class. Will take it again.

Really neat class- learning anatomy from an evolutionary point of view keeps it exciting! Dr. Raylman is a thoughtful professor who is easy to approach and always willing to answer questions. Lots of grades (between practicals, lecture exams, quizzes, and graded dissections). Lab text is req'd, I never used the lecture text. Highly recommend!

This is the BEST class offered at WVU for Biology majors! I had her for BIOL 338 too (great class). The lecture portion is not difficult, study her lectures in great detail, all her tests are 100% from her lectures! I would voice record so I could write down everything she said. Hands on dissection/lab, & straight memorization for the lab tests!

Dr. Raylman is my favorite professor at WVU! This course is a breeze if you put in the time. I received a very high A with minimal effort. The course information isn't too detailed and is interesting! I studied for each test the day before, never read the book (don't buy). Voice record her lectures to take notes on, tests are 100% lecture material!

Dr. Raylman is absolutely one of the best professors I've had. The notes outline everything you need for the exams, and she even gives you a study guide. No homework/in class assignments. Lab is so fun, and she really wants you to learn and is totally willing to explain in detail. I felt really well prepared for the practicals.

I have Dr. Raylman for 235 and i can't help but count how many times she says "umm" or uhhh", she doesn't know what she's talking about. Lectures are SO boring, I love bio but I dreaded this class. Study guides aren't that helpful either. Seriously the tests DON'T correlate to what she "teaches". I study my ass off for days and doesn't show.

Dr. raylman was wonderful! The lectures were so much fun, if you are interested about animals and life this class would be so much fun. Her exams were not hard nor easy, she would NEVER ask about anything she didn't mention in class. This is one of the most "chill" bio class I've had at WVU. Going to class was like watching an episode of NATGEOwild

I took her 440 and 338 class. It is insane how vague Raylman is during lectures and on tests. Half the time you don't know what she's talking about because she herself doesn't know either. I'm a good student, but couldn't have gotten an A in 440 without past exams and hardcore studying and same goes for 338. Don't rely on her, rely on the book

Powerpoints are absolutely dreadful. Hour and a half lecture is extremely boring and makes it impossible to write down notes. Almost impossible to ace without past exams. 2/10 would not recommend.

If you're a pre-med student reading this, consider taking another anatomy course. Comparative Anatomy is not a course that will peak your interest, especially when you find yourself learning jaw development in reptiles. The powerpoints are definitely not enough to do well on exams and listening to the long lecture to add info on em is torture

Dr. Raylman is the best teacher that I've had at WVU thus far. She is so down to Earth and very knowledgable. If you study and attend class the tests aren't THAT difficult. They are all fill in the blank or essay style questions and she always makes extra credit available. Lab was also very fun.

The class is pretty easy, but also very boring. Go over power points and study guide a few days before the test and you should be okay

Dr. Raylman is awesome. Her comparative anatomy course is my favorite. If you attend class and read your notes a few times before the exam there should be no trouble getting an A. She is very interesting and has a great sense of humor. She is also very fair. She cancels lab when there is lecture and cancels lecture for practicals. Lab is fun.

Great lecturer, knowledgeable, friendly, and fair - Dr. Raylman has been one of my favorite Biology professors. Tests are slightly difficult, but if you study you will easily get an A. I recommend that any Biology major should take her Compartive Anatomy class. You won't regret it.

Great teacher! She made class interesting and funny even at 8:30 in the morning. Her tests aren't hard and are relevant to what she taught you in class. I've also taken her Bio 440 class which is a little more challenging but she still makes it easy to learn. Definitely take her if your looking for bio credits!

This class was a little challenging, use flashcards! This isn't like her 101 classes you actually can't get by with multichoice anymore her test have essay-like questions. Some of the kids complained but I loved it.

she's an awful teacher and doesnt know what she's talking about half the time. she has study guides for exams that will tell us certain things we don't need to study because they wont be on the exam and then they end up being on the exam
