Comment:
Staub was perfectly mediocre. She often lectures rather than lead discussions which was frustrating. Average workload for a 2000 level class, and if you do it all you'll get a fine grade.

I love Dr. Staub. I have taken two of her classes and she is always very upfront with the layout of her classes. As long as you pay attention to her lectures and take notes on what seems important, your midterm and finals will be just fine!

She is rather rude. I did not feel respected. The readings were exhausting and I have had better teachers discuss the same material in better ways. It was impossible to figure out what she wanted on papers. She would say one then and then expect something out of left field. And she never says hi to anyone who waves at her in the hall. So rude

Dr. Staub is super knowledgable about the material and her excitement makes class interesting. Most of the class is discussion based and the readings aren't too long most of the time. If she sees that you make an effort she will grade you fairly.

Despite being a 2000 level class, I feel like I'm in a Senior class. She's very picky on papers and assignments, but never makes herself clear in class. There's a 14 page final project, an impossible midterm and final, group project, and 2 papers. Everything is ambiguous, so email her if you need help. Don't take if you're not an English major.

Staub is one of those teachers that people love or hate. Personally, I enjoy class discussions and find her assignments relevant, but this is not the case with everyone. If you do the work, come to class, and participate, she'll like you and you will do well.

I would not recommend if you're not an English major. Tends to over analyze and contradict herself. I had a hard time understanding what she wanted from me in the writings. DON'T LAUGH AT A DEATH SCENE no matter how funny the acting is, she will judge you for it. Kinda made me not like Shakespeare.

Very interesting class (Shakes) and she teaches you a good bit. She's kinda wrapped up in theory, but she's not an extremist. It's not hard to pass or get a B even; but getting an A is a challenge. She'll find something wrong with your paper and you'll get a lower grade on it than you'd expect.

I took the honors section of Brit Lit with Staub, and it was so much more difficult than I expected. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended that you attend her class because so much is covered. All of her tests and assignments are on ASULearn too so that's cool. I liked the class, but you need to put in a good deal of effort.

Maybe good in the classroom, but after her online class, was very disappointed. Agree with all negatives posted here. Impossible to know what she expects of you. Very unhelpful. Has "sink or swim" style of teaching. If I wanted to figure everything out on my own, I wouldn't be in college. I want to be taught, which she does little of.

I have really enjoyed this prof. She is funny and interesting and really invests. One research 8pg paper, mid&final, you have to blog once a week on readings but if you attend class reg it's nbd. There is a presentation but with a partner and everyone seems to do well. I would def take her if you can, she's very approachable!

Yes, Dr. Staub expects hard work and effort out of her students. If you aren't willing to do the work, why are you in college? I've taken four courses with her now and made an A every time--because I did the readings and the writing as directed. She's my favourite professor at App, as well as the reason I chose to return for my MA.

Your experience with this professor will vary. Apparently she can be a helpful and understanding person, but this was not my experience, nor that of many other students I've talked to. She is brilliant and knows her subject matter, but she needs to work on her interpersonal skills or stick to research. Not at all encouraging.

BLOGS ARE DUMB. I don't understand why we must reiterate EVERYTHING we say in class then get a bad grade for it. She is never clear about what she wants and then makes the class suffer for it.

Horrible. Really, PUT DOWN THE NOTE CARDS! Perhaps she would qualify as a good teacher ... WHEN SHAKESPEARE WAS ACTUALLY ALIVE. In today's world, not so much.

Dr. Staub was awesome and extremely helpful. I'm an English minor but decided to go all out and take Shakespeare with her. I loved her so much that I enrolled in Shakespeare II and loved her still. She's very energetic and loves what she does. I would definitely recommend her but be willing to work because she doesn't grade lightly. Take her!!!

Dr. Staub is great! She is such a sweet woman and does a great job at teaching you, but not lecturing you or making you feel dumb. She also welcomes discussion and smiles and encourages you. She does grade semi-hard, but not impossible. Take her, especially if you have to take shakespeare!

I loved Dr. Staub. Shes clearly passionate about literature and she tries hard to pass on that passion to her students. Shes lively and interesting. You'll read difficult stuff, but pay extra attention to the passages she talks about in class, they pretty much make up her tests. Expect also to do two medium size papers and a presentation.
