Tbh don't take this class for a gen ed unless you're interested in the topic. He's a great professor and he's smart af, but if you don't like the topic you will hate it. the grading is fair, but holy hell is this class boring. Some people are really into it, if you are, def take it. If not, stay far away for your own sake. So many boring readings

Dr. Goodman is a great professor that truly cares about his students. He's extremely understanding and flexible when it comes to working with students and making sure they succeed in class. He is extremely knowledgeable about the topics discussed and in class, and while I've may have dozed off during some of his lectures, I've learned a lot.

Seriously great professor. Engages with the class a lot, and his office hours bring captivating conversations. Cares a lot about making sure the class has learnt the material sufficiently. Is fully cognizant that the class is 100 level and has freshmen, so gives extensions and a lot of help and tips with papers. Not an issue, but the TAs do grade.

I got A- skimming readings/getting the gist of it, you can too. Go to lecs so you understand the central topics. 2 papers. They count for a lot-so you better get the A. Advice: even if you don't do the readings, pay special att. to readings that you'll focus on your essay. Study groups are best for this course. Exams: short answer and essays

This is a class you want to show up to. Great lectures and great discussions! Readings can be a lot though, but he focuses more on the main ideas than picky details, so it's not hard. Very stimulating class, highly recommended go to office hours on time for feedback and help. If you show up, pay attention, and turn in papers you'll get a B+ easy.

Took Law and Justice with Goodman even though I'm a math major. Was very happy that Goodman was unbiased to any political view and gave everybody a fair chance as long as you put in the effort. I rarely went to class and was lost throughout the whole semester but was able to pull a B with a couple all nighters before the exams. DO THE READINGS

The class is a lot of writing and reading but I walked out of every lecture feeling like a much smarter, worldly person. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who likes to debate. Professor Goodman's lectures were inspiring, informative, and took both sides of the argument into account.

1. 1st PHIL class ever taken, yet Goodman makes lectures interesting!! 2. Class is tough tho, final is cumulative 3. A LOT of readings & materials covered 4. Exams barely cover half of the material 5. My advice: Take good notes & don't skimp out on learning what he lists in the study guide (I couldn't keep up w/ half the readings, but managed a B)

He is a fantastic professor. Breaks down difficult philosophical concepts into easily understandable subparts, and is always willing to explain something in a new and different way. Class is 2 huge papers both 20% midterm, final (25%) and pop quizzes. This is a very difficult class and I would only take it if u need it for major. But he is great!

Buddhist Metaphysics was amazing. Goodman is a professor who cares deeply about the subject, and his lectures are 90% of the time crystal clear if you pay attention. Amazing class, but readings can be dense. Graded on participation and three essays, two of which are revised. I'd advise you to go to office hours to discuss your paper, it helps alot

very arrogant and opinionated. thinks he's way smarter than everyone else and often puts students down publicly in lecture. Extremely annoying voice and unpleasant lectures. Incredibly rude during office hour visits. lazy teacher, does not put any effort into providing helpful materials for students. by far worst professor i've had at bing.

Best Professor I've had and the smartest person I've ever met. He grills students who ask questions, so be prepared to defend your opinion. He really challenges you to think as well as to formulate your questions in a coherent way. Don't be intimidated! Go to his office hours, he really cares about his students & it's always awesome to chat w/
