Comment:

My Intro to C course was the first intro course that Prof. Fawcett had ever taught, and it did not go very well. He was unsure of our prior knowledge and therefore the material was shaky. We learned a lot that we didn't need and not nearly enough of the material that was required for assignments and tests. However, he did let us redo assignments.

Comment:

Very helpful and clear. I never felt that he was taking any grade off unfairly and his assignments were easy to understand. They didn't take more than 5 hours a week which is pretty good for a 4 credit class. I would take it again.

Fawcett is one of the best computer science teachers I have ever had. He made concepts that I had difficulties understanding in other classes crystal clear. He went out of his way to be helpful and understanding. I would definitely recommend his data structures course. Very easy to take & very easy to learn from.

David Fawcett was one of the greatest professors I have had at Lawrence Tech. Seriously. He made the learning process actually enjoyable, and was SUPER helpful. Allowing us to fix the labs was great.. not just for the fact of improving our grades, but it actually HELPED us learn the material.

He knows his stuff pretty well. He programmed a lot of the examples used in class, not like some CS teachers who just steal stuff from the Internet to put on PowerPoint slides. You can use your laptop on tests.

He's the one good LTU CS professor I've had. Sometimes he jumps around a bit if he forgets something, but usually he covers all his bases pretty well. Tests are open EVERYTHING, which makes it easy for slackers (a negative in my opinion), but at least he's realistic about test-taking.

Comment:

Excellent teacher. Good communication skills and I learned a lot from doing the labs assigned. He is willing to help with any question you have. Doesn't try to tell you everything he knows, sticks to the material. Dry humor. Very realistic: will assign reading from the book, but allows book use on tests. Very highly recommended: I learned a lot.

Very easy on homework and quizes. Helps a lot on projects and labs. You can hand in a lab whenever you're done with it, no dues date, as long as he knows that you're working on it.
