Mr. Winters made my chemistry experience great! He lets you take pictures of the lab board for homework, and sends out reminders for all assignments. He met with me before class at 9 to make sure I was okay, and to remind me of last minute homework. I had a panic attack in front of my class and he helped me calm down and let me go home. Helpful!

Not a good teacher. He is uninspiring. He is boring. He is old, quiet, assumes we know a lot, makes chem hard. He gives extra credit; DO IT; worth your time. He wears 6 suits (minus the jacket). Class got so bad I heard students crying. TIP- take quality lecture notes), do WebAssign assigned, and cry a lot! Our class avg- 58% at end of semester.

If you can avoid taking him for Chemistry. He is all over the place with how he grades. He does provide study guides and does do review sessions prior to test day. (very helpful!) He is soft spoken so sit in the front of his class. Gives weekly homework that is long but is a grade booster.

I had him for lab. He is extremely nice and cares about his students, the ones who put in effort. He gets a bad rep because it's a difficult class and he is old school in his technique. I did have trouble understanding what he was asking for sometimes but he's honestly not the worst professor in the world. Don't let the reviews scare you.

I'm taking his class in person but shifted to online because of the pandemic. He is NOT considerate about the work loads, instead he made it three times harder, TWO quizzes due ON THE SAME DAY, and scheduled the tests NOT on our class days. If you want to be successful, do NOT take him. I just had no choice that's why I took his class. Very awful.

This was the worst chemistry class I have been in. I only took this class for my major. The class is very unorganized and highly confusing. He does not respond to emails nor concerns. He just throws work at you every second of the day and we have not thoroughly learned anything. Just teach yourself!

His lectures are very hard to follow as he would skip around often and would do pratice problems and not explain his steps well but still expect you to do it the same way on the test. The test are hard and I usually ran out of time and couldn't finish. Homework is not too hard and it's worth a big percentage of your grade. Lots of extra credit...

Professor Winters is very knowledgable and kind. Take advantage of office hours. He is willing to help you. Take advantage of extra credits as they can help boost tests grades. Chemistry is a hard subject but his class taught me to be resourceful. If you do not want to put in the work, do not take him. But if you do, you will learn a lot from him.

I did not take Chemistry in high school. This professor teaches like you already know the basics and skips over everything! Nothing he taught was on the test. If you asked him to explain he barely answered your question. Worse class I ever took! Dont take this professor if you want to pass this class.

He's quiet so sit upfront. Do all the homework on time and you will be very well prepared. He offers tons of bonus work so do as much as possible to support your grade. As questions as much as needed. I would moreso recommend this class to people who are already decent and have a basic understanding of chemistry because his material goes quickly.

Winter is cold and cool, Winters is not. He gives a problem, and then makes 4 variants of it. He talks in a quiet voice. His tests are not anything like he taught. He gives extra credit, but it does nothing too boost your grade. His test average before extra credit was 50, and with extra credit the average is in the 60s. He gives tons of handouts!!

please... i am telling you now... do NOT choose winters for this class. It's my first semester of college and i have literally been teaching myself EVERYTHING from the textbook. i mean he's a nice guy and all... the kind of guy you'd wanna sit by a camp fire with and tell ghost stories... but he is not good at teaching whatsoever.

Ill admit hes not the greatest and hes a really hard professor. He seems to pick favorites too. He teaches a lot as of its review instead of learning for the first time, so if you already kind of understand chemistry and want some refreshing he is a good way to go, but honestly the class is really hard and hes a really tough teacher.

I had this professor for lab and I really taught myself most of the stuff. Everyone in my class had no clue what was going on the entire time, he doesn't explain things well and gives A TON of papers for no reason.

He talked so quietly I didn't know what he was saying most of the time. I had him for lab, he would demonstrate the lab assignment so fast and quietly I had to figure out the assignment on my own 95% of the time. VERY PICKY GRADER. Gives extra credit but it hardly helped. If you miss one lab you might as well have failed already. DO NOT RECOMMEND

It was more difficult than it should have been. The majority of the class dropped the lecture and lab. The textbook did not supplement the online homework. His tests come from another source, so they tend to not cover the same material. He thinks it is normal to have a class averge in the 60s. RUN. SAVE YOURSELF. I had a 3.8 GPA before taking him.

AVOID AT ALL COST. Lectures are heavy with information, all textbooks and lab manuals are online and you have to purchase. Test are very hard. Mainly 25 questions and heavy information. Had to rely on YouTube and was struggling with my study group. 3/4 of the class dropped. Avoid at all cost. For my nursing peers take CHM 111 instead.

You will teach yourself in this class. He is a smart man but not so good at teaching. Lots of handouts each class. Bonus work will help you out a bit. Do the bonus tests. Don't think just bc you get a practice test that it will resemble your actual test. OWL assignments are time consuming and annoying. I was a straight A student before this class.
