Comment:
Dr. Seeman is a kind professor who was very enthusiastic and clearly loves his subject. He makes his standards very clear and warns you when assignments are coming up so if you just do what he asks getting a B or above is pretty easy. You should expect to do a lot of reading but he is great for any history majors.

He is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. He is very caring and knowledgeable, his lectures are very interesting and the class itself is a marvel. You wont find many classes like it in other colleges, and Professor Seeman does a fantastic job in teaching it. N.H

Professor Seeman is very dedicated to this class and the work surrounding it. Taking this class about the history of death was something I thought would be too morbid. It's actually interesting. You write a one over paper based on assigned readings, but they're not long.

Two midterm essays and terms and one final with 2 essays. The final is divided into two essays by the second part of the semester's work and the overall semesters work. Recitation teachers give out limited A's and B's (single digits) they aim for most C's, it is fact they told us. Write an entire Blue book based on lectures. Tbook is w.e. to him.

Class could be a lot more clear. Seeman himself knows a lot and teaches really well, but clarity with grading could be improved. I was just pumped to get an A-. Just work really hard and talk to your TA.

Wonderful professor. I am more interested in science than history, but I loved his lectures. I have learned a lot. Took this class to stisfy the pluralism requirement, glad I did. The class did require some work; two papers, plus two essay exams. The grading is done by TAs, so make sure you know what your TA is looking for in an essay!

He is a very good professor. As long as you go to lectures and prepare for your essays you will do fine. Easy class nothing to worry about as long as your work is done!

no textbooks or tests just 3 papers and a research paper. my problem with this professor is that he expects everyone to be as interested in the topic as he is and if you dont seem as interested as he wants you to be your grade will suffer. at the beginning of a semester he pretty much evaluates your ability and then your grades dont change much.

Extremely interesting topic, but there is way too much information for only 2 exams. He needs to change this and the grading inconsistency. 2 other graders who are not as stringent as he is. Excellent instructor, but needs to revamp the format for the class.

It warms my heart to know that SUNY awards mediocrity with tenure. Since when does standing in front of a class and reading verbatim from a book you wrote qualify as teaching?

Really didn't like him actually. Assigned 4 essays plus a final and a midterm, each with a take-home essay. Way too much work for a 100 lever class. Pretty interesting in lecture, but makes attendance mandatory, which is unrealistic for a lecture hall. I thought he was kinda dweeby

By far the best history teacher at ub, maybe thats why he is the head of the department. Makes a lecture hall feel as though it is a small class room therefore you feel comfortable asking questions. Very informative and passionate about his studies but does not lecture beyond ones understanding. Best teacher, i would highly recommend him!

Best history teacher @ UB, best teacher I've encountered. Period. This man loves teaching history, and it shows. He knows his stuff. His exams are INCREDIBLY fair, in fact he gives you the essay questions a week before the exam (of which there are only two: midterm and final). Best teacher @ UB.
