Father Schorp is a very nice guy. He can come off as rude and uncaring but he just has a great passion for what he teaches. If you show him you are willing to work he will love you. Even though his class was hard I enjoyed it. If you are not willing to study and go to class (he is very big on attendence) then do not take Father Schorp.

By far the worst professor I've had here at StMU. His format is confusing and he is the only professor of mine, this semester, that takes points for missing class. I signed up for "philosophy" not just someone talking to me about nothing. Find a better, more exciting teacher to take.

I took Fr. Schorp's class a few years ago.Just wanted to say that he was one a breath of fresh air. Yes, he had some opinions but he was always helpful and once you understood how to format his papers and quiz's you easily got an A. He's not a great supporter of fraternities or sororities on campus.

The professor has a great passion for this subject. He gives you many chances for success. Going into this class, know that Philosophy isn't concrete and you won't stick to a set script. Go and talk with him in his office. Take his notes off the internet and follow along in class.

If you like sitting in a class being lectured about philosophy and how it only pertains to the professors frame of mind, take him; you'll love him. If you have already signed up drop the class and take it with someone else. I was skeptical, at first, but then I realized he was just too centralized on his own existence to teach philosophy.

A sweet man but his class is a bit confusing. It was a little difficult to learn stuff. I did at times enjoy this class when we stayed on topic. He allows you to come in to ask questions and make up absences . Try not to be late or miss class; he doesn't like to many adsences and tardies you need patients to take the class.

SO BORING!! And never stays on topic. Wastes class lecture time by rambling. Opinionated! Doesn't explain expectations, makes you call strangers on your time to form groups.

The first class I took at StMU was an 8:20 Philosophy class with Schorp. It was the worst class ever. Philosophy is boring enough, but Schorp makes it unbearable. The class is easy enough to pass if you just show up and fight off sleep, it's just so boring. He's also known to be a little on the crazy side, so watch out for that as well... even if you don't take his class.

I would have to say his class is ok. He makes jokes but never sleep in his class if you don't want to be humiliated in front of everyone. He looks like the mayor in the Gringe.

Fr. Schorp has great insight and is an all-around brilliant guy. During class, he might be difficult to understand, so the key is to go and speak with him personally. He really opens up, and gives you a good insight into the material. I didn't enjoy the class much until I went and talked with him. In the end, I learned a lot, and had fun.
