Comment:
He is such a brilliant, intelligent person and outside of class he is very kind, but he is just not a good professor. The lectures do not help and he is very unclear about concepts, his course is poorly designed, the homework is overwhelming, and his tests are almost impossible. Try to get another professor, because chemistry is not an easy course.

Comment:
Lectures are boring and not very helpful. Most people only show up for quizzes and exams. There are about 6-7 quizzes, 2 midterms and 1 final. Rely on the textbook and do the problems at the end of the chapters if you want to pass.

Comment:
The professor is very tough, because he makes the most toughest subject seem boring. Forget about doing the problems on the syllabus. Just do every problem from the book. The book sucks.

Comment:
Although lectures are somewhat boring, they aren't mandatory. At times there were maybe 6 people at lecture from the entire 90 person class. Very respectful man and will help you if you have a question. He also curves the grades substantially. Most people in class failed every test but still passed with at least a C. Decent-Good professor overall.

He may be nice and cool but the man cannot teach properly! His exams do NOT reflect the information provided in his slides, textbook or OWL program. I passed because of my high school notes and pretty much googling everything.

I will never take this professor again. No doubt he is a nice man and a brilliant man, BUT he cannot teach. He speeds through his slides, doesn't give examples in class and the test is COMPLETELY different from what we do go over in class and what is in the textbook.

He may be a nice man, but thats not what students need. I studied around the clock and still got terrible grades. when i asked him for help he basically ignored that. He gave TONS of homework that did not even relate very much to the tests. Tests where NEVER what was expected based on lecture and the book. dont take him if you can avoid it.

Although hes nice, do not take Quigley, he goes way to fast, gives unclear explanations on labs, and I had to learn everything from the TA David

i am a post bach so i have had several years of many different professors. he is by far the WORST teacher. you are required to learn on your own from the textbook, but his exams are nothing like what is in the text. he was also completely dismissive when i went to him for extra help. the class average on exams were never higher than 50%.

Such a shame he can't teach because he's probably one of the nicest professors I've had at Hunter thus far. Be prepared to learn on your own, and consult with David Nissenbaum when you need help. The curves should help a great deal but this professor is not ideal if you plan on going to med school. Take Stevens if he's available, for sure!

I am a post-bacc student so have had many professorys before him and I can honestly say he is THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. The HWs are so hard and the tests are even harder. just awful.

if you are having trouble in this class, ask yourself this: am i really putting effort into learning? or is chem really for me? read the chapter(s) that he will be discussing ahead of time and then ask him about concepts that you might have had difficulty understanding. and spend time on doing the homework, the exams are least of that difficulty.

Not a bad professor at all. As everyone has commented already, u must take time to learn on ur own in order to do good. If u try hard and it shows to him in the end it will pay off. I think he is a nice professor and he cares if we do well. Read the text b4 class if u want to learn from his lectures n study hard for exams. His curves help a lot.

I took AP Chem in High School, thinking I would get stuck with repetition. I was honestly mistaken. He is one of the most brilliant professors I encountered. I actually learned something. Consider it an honor to learn under this man, and consider yourself lucky to be a third as successful and intelligent as him. Takes self discipline.

to those who are whining that this class is too hard you need to remember that this is college not preschool where everything is supposed to be easy. All science courses are hard and you are expected to put in some work yourself. Yes the class average is rather low but that does not mean you cannot get a grade of B+ if you attempt to at least work.
