Never, ever, ever be LATE to his class. He will call you out and spend 5 minutes on how insulting that is. Great lecturer, thought provocative, but has a serious left-leaning point of the Constitution that I don;t agree with, but VERY effective professor.

Shaw is an extremely intelligent individual, but this guy is no attorney. His entire life is based purely in academia and he has no concept of real world practice. He has a terrible attitude and speaks to students in a way that makes them disinterested in con law. He has an unrealistic expectation of your level of preparedness.

Be ready to be tortured for a year. Professor Shaw is the toughest teacher I have ever seen in my life. He expects you to be ready regardless of any medical emergency you might have. If you do all the required reading, actively participating in class, and taking good notes in class, then there should be no reason for you to do poorly in his class.

Professor Shaw may know the material well, but his bad attitude and style of teaching get in the way of him expressing the material clearly. Most students sit nervous, waiting for him to talk down to them. Preaches professionalism, will correct the way you speak, and has a no excuses attitude. Yet he makes a mistake and the class should forgive him

Aside from his bark, Shaw's a good professor. very helpful out of class. willing to talk about what/how to do for test. 3 memos worth 1/2 of grade. if u r a good writer, this is a +, as final is whatever he focused in class the most. Briefing was useless-this was biggest diff in grades/semesters. know the cases, how law applies and u will do fine

He's only intimidating if you are not prepared. If you are prepared, he just looks like a loud, egotistical idiot. But, he is a smart guy; he shows every angle of each case. He's also good about meeting with you to speak about class or any issues you are having with it. Exams are straightforward. He never collected briefs, as he said he would.

If you keep up with the material, be Prepared to Suffer all semester. But it will all be worth it when you reap the rewards when the grades come out. The finals for both classes were about as straightforward as they come.

Professor Shaw is a tough professor who is quite gifted at intimidating his students. That being said, this is a TOUGH class, but the final is fair and he makes himself available for questions. He expects you to learn, and will not spoon-feed you the material. He is brilliant and can understands what he teaches like the back of his hand.

Don't believe the hype. This guy is walking bloated ego, reviled by most former students and most faculty. He's the laziest teacher I had relying on ridiculous minutiae like which justices stood where instead of teaching substance. Tries to be scary, but don't let him intimidate - u can get everything u need off wiki. He's kind of misogynistic too.

I read the textbook and went to his class Con Law I. I never was able to concentrate during his class bc of his rudeness towards students. Did I learn from him...NO. I could barely hear a word he said due to how nervous he made me feel in class. I wish the school would hire real professors such a Berman and not ppl who dont know how to teach!

He is a tough professor. He teases people in class, but it seems to be only the people he really likes. He expects everything he assigns to be completed but if you really do the problems, you'll get a good grade. I expected this to be my worst final and ended up with an A. It may not seem it, but he's extremely available for extra help!

This Prof is the best Touro has.., Not that that says much, but he is really good... Cute, too!!! You will learn a lot from him so PAY ATTENTION, ans try not to be distracted by his other qualities ;-)
