Dr. Prins is a really nice guy and knowledgeable. But I'd do have a few red flags that should be addressed to anyone interested in taking his class. 1. His lecturing style is sporatic. 2. He will change the format of tests last minute. 3. He will take forever to grade your papers/tests. I'm unaware of my grade and it is more than 3/4 in the semest

There is an incredible amount of work involved in his North American Indians class, expect to spend hours reading, writing essays, and doing a project. He is an incredible man to listen to lecture, has plenty of interesting things to say.

Dr. Prins is really successful. He talks about himself because he has lived through his work. The test are based around what he's been through as well as the reading. He is a distinguished professor for a reason at KSU if you want to be an educated take his class. He will challenge you but he won't hand you candy. Be a college student and do work!

This class was awesome and gave me a break from some of my more strenuous classes. Not saying this class was a breeze by any means, but it gets you thinking to a different level which I appreciated. Only a few exams which he gives study guides for. There is a large amount of reading, but nothing a college student couldn't handle.

Good teacher! I loved his class, although I was surprised by how much reading there was. He readily bumped up my grade from an 89% to a 90% at the end of the semester. He's well-respected.

Mr. Prins motto is "I will only help those who help themselves" so going to class and sitting in the front makes a big difference. Get to know the professor, it helps when it comes to your grade. He does not lecture much on the text, it is up to you to read on your own but there are study guide for the exams and answers are easy to find.

He rambles a lot and does not discuss the readings in class, simply expects you to understand them on your own.

I had no issues when I took his Intro into Anthropology class. Having the recitation classes were a big help as well. I liked he gave us clear directions and study guides. He is helpful and if needed even offers extra credit. It was a easy and a breeze, although sometimes it is difficult to understand him, but not to where you would fail.

Extremely self centered and has a ginormous ego. He will talk about himself about 50% of the time in this class. Expects you to read the entire textbook cover to cover and a 400 page book that he wrote himself. I devote a lot of time to my studies and still thought this class required too much work for the level it was at. Take it with Dr. Wesch.

Prins is a very interesting and talkative professor. He's very passionate about his subject and you can tell by the way he lectures. Go to class, take detailed notes and read the book. Study hard and you'll be fine.

Very poor quality. Expect Lectures to jump erratically from subject to subject. Prins will mention a name, and then go off on an unrelated rabbit trail. In Theory class, expect to learn more about life histories than about any actual theories. I received an A, but feel a bit cheated by the poor quality of this class that I was excited about.

GREAT LECTURER! Entertaining stories, and not afraid to push a few boundaries. Clear guidelines given before tests, read as you go along. Not for the faint of heart. As earlier posts mention, he *does* talk about himself a lot. That's because he loves his work, and he's done a LOT. If you're not gaga for Anthropology, you might find him annoying.

I loved Prof. P. He does focus on his accomplishments but I don't want to sit in class with a Prof. who reads directly out of the text, that's boring! He's really enthusiastic about the material covered. I hardly studied and received a 102.5% in the class. Awesome professor, loved the class! Hoping to take more classes from him in the future!

All test questions are 100% from the book. If you want an A in the class, you must read the textbook. Lectures were completely useless and unhelpful but he gives occasional extra credit for attendence. The work load is ridiculous-- you have to read two textbooks (both of which he wrote) cover to cover. Do not take this class with Prins.

Prins is an okay teacher, but often in class I find him focusing on his own accomplishments rather than on the subject material. He takes random attendance for extra credit so make sure you attend class if you are struggling. The tests are directly out of the book (that he wrote) and he gives you a study guide of key terms before each one.

This guy knows his material and his expectations are extreme. His methods are questionable and he likes to hear himself talk. I personally don't like him because of his over inflated ego.

Ok, I'm not sure how he is with the upper level Anth classes but for the intro class he was pretty good. His lectures are interesting and he has a real passion for his work where as a lot teachers don't. His tests are straight from the book and he will even send you review sheets before each one. Do the review sheets and you'll be fine.
