Before I start tearing into this, Dr. Holzworth is a fantastic guy and I respect him as a person. But as a teacher his lectures are extremely confusing and there are so many notes for each exam when the exams are 8 problems long. His writing is terrible and he is terrible at explaining the lectures and I find it very difficult to learn in his class

Professor Holzworth lectures well on the material that he covers in class, however, chances are that material won't even be on the test. Tests are NOTHING like his lectures. Frequently confuses himself when showing demonstrative problems. Good guy, terrible teacher.

Tests are hardly like what is covered in class. Can't find him during his office hours to ask for assistance either. UPG really needs a new Genetics professor. My advice to study for this class is to simply use past exams as he reuses old questions.

Comment:

Took Holzworth for both bio 2 and genetics. Although his classes may be tough and the exams are hard, it is definitely possibly to pass the class with a decent grade and if you have any questions, ASK! He will slow down and go over it again. If you are planning on taking genetics, take him for bio 2 as well. It will make a huge difference!

He's a great professor; he's there if you need help after class, if you ask questions in class he will slow down and answer them, he allows you to drop your lowest exam score, and the exams are tough but mostly fair. I was told going in that I would potentially fail and I'm finishing with a very good grade without one of his legendary curves.

Holzworth is honestly my favorite professor on campus. He is very hard to follow and doesn't explain well during class but go see him individually and you will be shocked by how helpful he can be. Participate in his lectures and make sure he knows you, pays off in the end. promise!

Its possible to get an A+. Attend class (especially on days you go over homework) and take notes on everything. If you have a question, ask. If you become a favorite and he'll recognize you. If not, he still grades fairly. Study from previous exams.

Looks like the rat from harry potter and talks like it, is so unorganized with his notes that he scribbles all over the board like an idiot. All his tests are genetics problems there are no partial credit its either wrong or right. Doesnt teach at all just goes over problems in the book and goes on and on about stupid experiments that are useless.

Extremely unorganized, does not elaborate on material, took his class twice and did not do well either time. He picks favorites and if he doesnt like you he grades harder. Take professor Cheek she gives a lot of work but it will pay off in the end.

Aside that the class is relatively boring, his tests are unlike the problems he gives you, however expects you to be able to figure the questions out in allotted amount of time. his tests are incredibly difficult and his teachings are different from other bio teachers in greensburg and oakland. i do not recommend this teacher for any class. his notes do not make any sense. he is teaching advanced genetics in general bio 2 class. i recommend professor cheek.
