Professor Himmelstein is extrem passionate about what he teaches. He know the subject matter inside out, backwares and sideways. He demanded attendance and respect and if you gave the same in return you did well. If you didn't like biology before this class, his passion for it rubbed off on you. He is a wonderful teacher and a great man.

Prof H. is like my Gramps, but still fiesty and sharp as a razor. Takes attendance seriously and urges you to show up cause he enjoys teaching his ish, but he makes the class go quickly with funny and corny jokes. Answers Emails right away so he is accessible. You miss a few classes in exchange for going on the field trip and it was kind of fun.

He's a dinosaur but crazy like a fox. One of the best at Willy P. But it's his way or the highway if you are lazy & want to goof off. Knows his bio and loves teaching it. Has high expectations & he will do all he can to help you out if you try hard. Take the field trip option because it will be the best time you could have at WP & you learn a ton.

Himmelstein Rule No. 1: The further to the front you sit, the higher your grade. He's pretty cool for an old guy. He's also deaf, so don't get offended if he doesn't hear you. But definitely take his class if you get the chance, it goes by quickly and you get a lot out of it! This guy knows his ish, take his class!!

Professor Himmelstein is a great professor. I hate the sciences and he made this class so pleasant, especially for a Saturday morning. There is an optional weekend field trip that he offers which is fun as well as educational. This gets you out of three Saturday classes. Listen to his study tips, treat him with respect, and this class rocks.

great prof. Very interested in the subject matter that he teaches. Passionate about his work both in his class and Brazil. Takes you on an optional field trip that is a great time. If you enjoy the outdoors you'll love his field trip and gain lots of information in his class. Tests are fair - no surprises, make sure to study. Great man!!!!

He's a great person, the class was just okay. Yes he cancels a lot of classes but you have to go on a field trip at the end which was not fun. It was dirty and gross in the cabins, there was no heat, and there were bugs in the cabins. The hikes on saturday and sunday are okay, long though. tests are not easy so you do need to study!

cancels like 6 out of the 15 weeks because he does other stuff in brazil. The weekend field trip to make up the classes is ok. The saturday hikes are not bad, but dont stay overnight if you dont have to, the beds and cabins are very dirty we slept in a car dont reccomed staying over he changes it every semester so see what he says tests arent bad

Taking him now and what a cool course. An Ed major I am learning as much about how to teach as I am bio. He has great rapport with the class and knows our names by heart. He can't walk and he can't hear but that does not stop him so he inspires me. Has great stories to tell which help me understand the bio and makes a 5 hour class more enjoyable.

Take this guy.Knows his stuff and teaches it very well. After a few classes he knew all of our names and always made time to give us help. He does expect a lot of individual responsibility but can be impatient with foolish or lazy people. Do not agree with the one below and going on the field trip was an option, but one that was a cool experience.

I took this professor for Biology and was surprised on how different he was from everyone else's praises. The guy doesn't really teach much of anything, but tests you as if he had. He not only makes you spend the weekend at some stupid camp in New York, but also makes you glue leaves onto sheets for one of his projects. This man has completely lost

The professor is cool, and very nice. If you do the work and come to class there is no reason why you will not pass. You will go on a trip, or you can do a three page report, but if you do not go on the trip it is not a big deal just do the paper. Anyone should be able to pass this class. It is a passing grade just show up and do the work.

Watching his slide lectures on his work in Brazil is like having National Geographic in front of you. The weekend field trip is a great experience and well worth trading for the classes he gives up.
