Comment:

You can tell that Dr. Mailloux is passionate about what she teaches. She's also funny, which makes long lectures bearable. With that being said, lectures are pretty much the only resource you have, so definitely attend every day and take extensive notes. There are only four exams which make getting a good grade either extremely easy or difficult.

This is a big class and participation isn't mandatory but her class is lectures with a powerpoint that is very minimal. You have to be in class to know what she specifically talks about. I didn't use the textbook for this class. Mailloux is very charismatic and this is a relatively fun and easy course to take.

Dr. Mailloux is a good teacher, she just makes things really hard. All she does are tests and they are tricky. TAKE GOOD NOTES! Also, be careful when going to her office hours, because if you dont understand something she makes you feel stupid for not understanding it

Comment:

Easily one of my favorite professors. Assigns homework almost every night but they are great grade boosters. Everyone talked about how difficult statistics is and I was worried. However, Mailloux's lectures brought everything together and made it one of my favorite classes. I now love stats! She HATES when you are late or absent.

I have had Mailloux now for two semesters, and I absolutely love her. She is funny, smart, and incredibly helpful. Make sure to always ask questions if you do not understand anything, and always do the practice problems and extra credit assignments if you want to do well.

I took Sensation and Perception just because it sounded interesting. I had never had a class with Mailloux before, but I love this one! She super personable and relatable, and gives very clear lectures. She also strongly encourages her students to attend office hours if clarification is needed. If you have an opportunity take this class!

Psychopharm is hard, but she is so much fun that you can't help but love it. Only tests - no homework or quizzes, so read your text, and take good notes!

Really hard professor, difficult class. Mailloux is pretty cool, but she makes you feel like an idiot if you ask questions. The material can be pretty challenging, so you really need to ask questions... slight conundrum. Grades are based on 4 exams and homework/lab work... it's pretty essential to do well on the out-of-class work.

HARD class. If your not passionate about advanced stats DO NOT take this class. Although she is a funny professor she is HARD. THe only things that are graded in this course are 4 exams!!! That is IT, no opprotunity to salvage your grade.

Dr. Mailloux is really funny and interested in the psyc of sex. She takes a lot of questions and the powerpoints are easy to follow. You can get away with not reading but there are always a few text-specific questions on each test that we didn't cover in class. Overall it's every captivating and as long as you pay attention you'll do fine.

Show up to class everyday, keep up with the reading, and ask questions! You'll do fine. If you're sick or can't show up, she'll help you catch up. She'll also help with personal issues if you trust to confide in her. Great professor. Doesn't hurt that she's super cute, too!

Dr. Mailloux is probably one of the most kind professors at UMW. It may not seem like it all the time, but she really is interested in helping her students succeed in and out of the classroom. I enjoyed her class. It's work but not difficult to keep up with. Changed my major to Psych after taking this class. Highly recommend!!

This class is not hard in my opinion. So many people in my class complained, but all you have to do is read the book (when it is assigned; not the night before a big test). Do the extra credit, too. It's a grade-booster. Mailloux is a nice woman and knowledgeable as well :)

I took this class Fall 2010 (freshman year). It was so hard. You have to read the book all the way through like 10 times. I am not exaggerating. The tests are amazingly hard and she just reads off the power points word for word.
