Comment:
He's a great physics professor. His 4B class is one of the most cutthroat classes I took in Mission but the most rewarding. Practice a lot of problems and study the concepts. Quizzes are fair. Final is really difficult. Go to his office hours if you don't understand the material.

His 4B class is the hardest class you'll ever take. The difficulty of this class is a major change from 4A. Quizzes every 2 weeks so be prepared. One is straightforward and one requires critical thinking. The only problem is he goes really fast in his lectures so take time to grasp as best as you can and picture what he writes on the whiteboard.

I took Jim for both 4B and 4C. He's always available for office hours, which is really good for last minute questions. 4B really isn't as hard as everyone says it is, so don't be afraid. Quizzes and finals are really straight forward, understand the practice exams and you'll easily get an A. Take him before he retires!

Comment:
I had the professor for Physics 4B. It was great to have him again for 4C. I struggled with the transition to the online version since labs scheduled from mid-March until the end of the spring 2020 semester were cancelled. It would have been better if he asked us to submit a single PDF for each exam. Then give us back the graded exams.

4B is a huge jump from 4A in difficulty. Dr. Burrell is not the best explainer--he may be too smart for the level. You will need to put in hundreds of hours teaching yourself these concepts. Live and die off his practice exams on Canvas.

About 4-6 hours of studying is required in order to pass his class. Hardest class I've taken but rewarding as well. He is smart and knows the material well. He goes really fast in his lectures but his lecture notes are posted on canvas. Quizzes every two weeks and drops the lowest 2 of the 7. The final is difficult, so study as early as possible.

Dr. Burrell's lectures are amazing and funny at times. Quizzes are given every two weeks and labs take 1-2 hours. Old quizzes are posted on Canvas for you to practice. There were two questions per quiz. There are 7 total and he drops the 2 lowest quiz scores. The final exam has 20 multiple-choice conceptual questions and you choose 4 of the 5 FR.

Would not recommend taking his class if you're not good at self studying. His lectures are too fast and he talks about complicated concepts like they're common knowledge, and he often says important stuff that isn't written down on the board. Quizzes are tough and the final is even tougher. Only take if you have confidence in your Physics skills.

He's definitely a tough professor but you learn a lot from his class. His test is fair (1 straightforward, 1 tricky/unexpected curveball). Be sure to do all of the following (homework, lecture examples, practice questions). Final is hard, be prepared to study conceptual questions. Hard class but it's rewarding.

His 4B class is tough. Attend every class as much as possible. Do the homework, focus on his lecture notes and practice quiz. Not easy, studied for this class every day to earn a good grade.

He's a good physics teacher. However, you need to put a lot of time and effort to understand the material and get a good grade. Quizzes are fair (two problems), one is straightforward and the other is challenging. Just do the homework, redo the problems he went over for his lectures and go over the practice quiz he provides you on canvas.

I took his 4B in 2017 fall and 4C again in 2018 Spring. He's an easy grader, but be sure you do the home work and fully understand it. There is a quiz every 2 weeks. I messed up in Thermal dynamics which is supposed to be the easier one out of the two, but I still managed to get an A at the end. Be sure to participate his lab. The lab is more fun.

I took his 4B in 2017 fall. Great teacher. His lecture is straight forward. He shows you home work examples in class. All his notes can be found online, so attending the lecture is optional. He gives a lot of room when grading quizzes, and there are a lot of quizzes, which is a good thing.

I took physics 4B with professor Burrell on Fall 2017. I enjoyed the labs and learned a lot about electricity and magnetism. If you want to get a good grade, you need to work hard for it. Physics 4B is not easy so you can't leave studying for the last minutes.

Took 4B in summer with Dr. Burell, and he was amazing. His lectures are awesome, he'll tell you exactly the questions that will be on the quizzes and final, and hes a very (very very) lenient grader Make sure you attend every class and do the homework, and you will get an A. He makes you work for it but it is totally worth it.

Mr. Burrell is an awesome physics professor besides Mr. Poe. He can teach an abstract subject really well. Make sure you do the homework because it will prepare you for the test which is difficult. I have to work for my grade and in the end I'm happy with what I got. I learned a lot in his class. I recommend him.
