Extremely understanding when I missed a couple deadlines due to an unforeseen circumstance. It's one of those classes where you don't necessarily need to memorize every little thing to pass. Just pay attention and do the work diligently, and you'll be fine.

One of the most inspiring and mind-opening classes I've ever taken. Expect to read a lot, think deeply, and plenty of dry dad jokes. Prof. Kihlstrom's classes challenge you to think more critically than ever before on fascinating topics. He is never one to shy away from controversies but will always back up all his claims with research.

He talks really slowly which makes it difficult to want to attend lectures. Would watch webcasts at greater than 2x speed (and was able to take notes still). Tests are all memorizationpure recall of nitty gritty details. Assigns a LOT of reading and tests on details of experiments while claiming to "only test big concepts." Huge disappointment.

One of the last great true professors: rock solid lectures (that are webcast if you can't make it), crystal-clear grading criteria, complete statistical analysis of tests to get you the fairest grade, he really knows his stuff! Even uploads optional extra information. I wish I could take this class again to engage more deeply.

DON'T DO IT! It was the worst class, ever. Stated the obvious in fancy terms and boring lectures. Take the class in person, not online, I'm sure it's better than this.

I had this class in 1999 and still remember it. He taught me how to have lucid dreams, which have greatly assisted my creative endeavors ever since. His instruction and class were great and changed my life in a positive way. Thank You JK.

Went to class for the 1st two weeks and never went again since it was on podcast. WOULDNT RECOMMEND. ended up watching like 6 hrs of lecture the day before tests. i find him rather interesting. cracks some jokes. bit aloof. read VERY closely. tests ask detail questions about the reading. spend more time studying the book rather than on lecture

Prepare to read a 700+ book cover to cover and memorize it! A harder class than one would think. Should be called BIOLOGICAL psychology but ok.... learn about virtually every psych field from bio to social to pathology. But I think this professor is too advanced to be teaching intro to psych.

He lectures A LOT! He can be funny at times. The main problem I had with him was that he gave TOO much information to study for, for his exams. These exams are NOT easy by any means. He gives you this crazy study guide, and then when you get the test it doesn't seem to match. No Homework which is nice, and the GSI was cool.

I absolutely loved this professor! He has ingenious insights of hallmark psych experiments and studies like Stanley Milgram's experiment, Phineas Gage, etc. Tests are short answers, so need to know your stuff and come to lecture, but are graded leniently. If not a lot of people know the answer to a question he just drops it. I highly recommend him.

Never studied so hard and did so badly in a class. It's really frustrating. The book is extremely hard to read. The were completely unpredictable. I'm a senior, and by far this is the hardest psychology class I've ever taken.

It is important to read the textbook to do well on the tests but overall the class is not too hard. The practice midterms and reviews are very helpful. There is no homework.

He talks 99% of the time and makes fun of Freud, Parapsychology and anything else not in agreement with his hardcore cog sci orientation. But-this is an utterly superb presentation of scientific approaches to consciousness. Fascinating lectures. Genuinely interesting readings. Useful sections. Good, fair exams. One of the best classes at Berkeley.

A really sweet prof.! Very fair grader--he spends a ton of time analyzing his test grades, and removes questions that the majority of students did poorly on. Very excited about his subject matter, however he's also aware that others may not be as excited and conducts his class accordingly. I was very happy with my experience :)

This class went over a lot of interesting topics. He is super helpful and organized, provides many resources on the site, and let's you know what he expects on exams. A big chunk of your grade is section and short weekly posts. Long exam, but he was fair and adjusted scores. I really like him. He's kind of funny. I wish more people were as excited.

I have to disagree with some people who said 75% of the class got A's. His tests are ridiculously diffcult and it's very hard to get an A. He throws some questions on th midterms, especially the final, that the majority of people can't get right. I don't know what he is thinking when he designs the tests, but it's unfair and very difficult. boring

He was a very nice professor who seemed a bit aloof to the boredom level of the class most of time.He talks at you the entire time , and this is his style-so be prepared to find a reason to keep going every week. The year I took it I had Black Lightning Notes aka ASUC Notes.Other than that he is very nice in office hours so do not hesitate to visit.

His lectures are dry, but very clear. He posts the slides so note taking is really easy. There are a lot of facts to memorize for the tests though. I'd say overall it is an average class.
