Doctor Fowler is one of the best profs Ive had. His lectures are entertaining and very interesting and he is really passionate about teaching. 5 quizzes and 2 assignments, but theyre fairly easy if you go to class and read the textbook. A really great intro course to archaeology or just a fun elective. I highly recommend taking his courses.

Dr. Fowler is one of the best profs! He doesn't post slides but his teaching style doesn't require any slides, there is a lot of textbook reading but the material is interesting and the textbook used was a very easy read. Very clear on what he wants on assignments. His use of humor in class and way of teaching keeps the attention all class 10/10!!!

Awesome lectures, super funny and caring guy. Keeps things interesting and makes sure his students really know what they're doing. No exam, just five quizzes & two assignments. Instructions on the assignments are clear and quizzes are pretty easy if you pay attention. Doesn't post slides, though.

I dont find Jonathan to be clear in his grading of papers or what he wants from your papers. The class is fine hes a great lecturer and the quizzes are pretty easy and dont require much studying. But the major things your graded on dont have any real instructions, and his feedback isnt much help.

Great guy, easy class. Show up and copy down what he says. Reveiw the textbook before a test. Put a little effort in on the assingments; and you can get a good grade.

100% the best prof/class I've ever had... The guy is a genius and his class is so fun to go to! Not an easy class because he's actually trying to get you to learn something. Take any class with Fowler and you WON'T be disappointed!

I wish I was more interested in Archeology otherwise I would have taken Dr. Fowler ever chance I got. He was an amazing prof and so well spoken during lectures. He really made the first year class enjoyable even though it was 100 person class. I wish him well.

Personable, good sense of humour, patient, attentive to questions, high professional integrity. Teaching various methods of spacial/detail appraisal through non-archaeological readings was innovative! Test questions were crafty but fair, and always on-point. Thanks for a great intro to the field of study.

I loved Professor Fowler! He even gives first year archaeology students the chance to do some archaeological fieldwork. He is supportive and helpful, and makes the tests and assignments fun! Definitely would recommend taking his courses. :)

Jonathan is funny and personable, however his lectures suck and he gives so many quizzes. You have to read the textbook to pass them which are worth 60% of your mark and not to mention reading the textbook was a serious struggle. no midterm or final, 1 easy assignment), 2 in in class assignments and 6 quizzes. I wouldn't recommend taking for fun.

Personally, I loved this class. I'm going to be an Antrhopology major, and I found it kept my interest the whole term. The class is heavily on the textbook, every week there is quizzes on the chapters. You should also attend the class, he will quiz on that too. He's hilarious, and easy to talk to! Great to get to know him, I'd recommend this prof.

I personally couldn't stand this professor. He makes his class seem more relevant by making online quizzes and menial things like movie questionnaires impossible to do well on. I took 12 pages of notes to take his online quizzes and would still come out with a 70-75. Made me lose all interest in archaeology and dragged my mark down. Don't do it.

Took this class as an elective, and I must say, its rather difficult. The actual class itself is overall quite easy, however his quizzes consist of all textbook material (the textbook is a long read, lots of names/dates). Everything is worth 10%. The class was great however the quizzes destroyed my grade. Even a few arch majors had Cs in the course

You need the textbooks (timed online quizzes on really random stuff from text that you cant actually study for like dates and random archeologist names and definitions - better to just have the text on hand.) Actually reading it not necessary. Classes are early but worth it to show up. He's super interesting/funny which helps. Coffee required.
