I thought he was really scary at first, but he's actually really sweet and supportive. If you show an interest in the subject and a desire to do well, he will do everything he can to help you succeed. Fantastic lecturer, incredibly knowledgeable. Textbook is mandatory, but if you pay attention and put in the effort, you'll do fine. Recommended!

Durflinger is a great professor. He is incredibly knowledgeable on WW2. His lectures are packed full with info, but he is able to weave a simple narrative. Don't skip his class, because he doesn't post anything online. His assignments are straightforward. Fair grader. He's easy to access outside of class and ready to help a confused student.

He makes the class go by very quick due to the fact that his lectures are very interesting and he is really knowledgeable in the Second World War. He is persistent in helping students in their topic proposals and their essays to help them succeed. Highly recommend taking him

Mr. Durflinger is a very good and nice professor. He does have a superiority complex which makes the class unbearable at times. But he delivers great lectures which are content heavy and contain plenty of information. You need to attend class to pass. He doesn't use virtual campus to post his notes.

A very smart man but also very stuck up. Does not enjoy when students ask questions in class. Took 2 courses with him and had good grades but they require lots of work. VERY Condescending towards those he doesn't like. You learn lots but have to put up with his know it all attitude. Beware.

I've taken two of Derflinger's classes, World War 1 and 2. It was the same for both, if you do the readings and go to class you'll do well. I didn't do the readings for WW2 and got a C+, did them for WW1 and got a B+. As hard as he is, it's the only class I've ever taken where I didn't look at the clock once. If you like modern history, take them.

Great professor! Knows his stuff and makes lectures very interesting. I learned a lot in both his WWI and WWII class. Not a horribly tough marker but does make you work for it for sure. Do not expect to pass without going to class. He is always willing to give students help on assignments outside of class. Recommend him!

Dr. Durflinger is an amazing lecturer! He is the kind of guy that can get you interested in even the smallest details of military history. Did not find him a particularly tough grader, I would say even more important than doing readings is just go to class. If you do, you will do well. Such a nice, knowledgeable guy.

I READ THE REVIEWS ON DURFLINGER PRIOR TO STARTING HIS CLASS AND I WAS EXPECTING IT TO BE VERY DIFFICULT. IT DID RECQUIRE ALOT OF WORK BUT IF YOU ATTEND ALL THE CLASSES AND DO THE READINGS IT IS EASY TO GET AN A

Has a slightly twisted sense of humour, challenges standard ideas about Canadian history, and seems to bitterly hate Trudeau. All of which keeps the lectures interesting. Despite discovering that I don't like Canadian history, his course was still worth taking.

Fabulous professor. He's a hard marker with high standards, but he gives you what you deserve. Very helpful if you have questions about anything in his class. The discussion groups were enlightening, and we got good use out of the textbook. Finally, a professor who doesn't spare the details about the 20th cen wars. Would take again in a heartbeat.

I dont like him, its a first year class and the correction of the examns are terrible....if we dont cover 30 years with most of what happened he will give us a bad grade...he teach us like if we were 10 years old, his french is not that great and he always repeat the same thing.
