Typical English class, but you have to work in groups. He's a pretty easy grader though, just show up to class with drafts when they're due. You also have to give presentations for just about every unit so be aware of that.

Do not take this course with Dr. Steffey. I have gotten A's on papers all my life and the best grade I have gotten on any of his papers was a B. His lectures will put you to sleep and I feel like he tries to use big words to show off.

Comment:

Such a nice man. A bit soft-spoken and awkward, but he really helped me out by holding conferences with us in between our peer editing sessions with our rough draft and turning in our final draft. A few times I couldn't go to a conference if I wanted one because of my classes, but he found time that wasn't designated for conferences. Very kind.

Comment:

He's one of the nicest professors I have ever met, but his lectures tend to get very dry, quiet, and sometimes awkward. His conferences are especially helpful, and so is his feedback on the papers/assignments. Overall, the class was easy and relaxing, but you still must be willing to work hard. I recommend him.

He's a pretty lenient grader, and doesn't take off points if your aren't improving, but his lectures drone on, he has four different papers, all one after the other, and his monotone gave me the best nap I could have asked for.

Despite being a soft-spoken person, he provides interesting and thorough discussion prompts and pushes you to read deeper into the text. If you keep up with the readings and write thoughtful papers, you will get a good grade. He provides a lot of helpful feedback on papers.

Dr. Steffey is a very intelligent professor, and he is very helpful if you approach him outside of class. He often calls on people in class if no one is contributing to the discussion, so come prepared. He is a fairly easy grader and gives a lot of advice on your papers.

Professor Steffey is very boring and monotone. His class consists mainly of discussions, which become very awkward if your classmates haven't read, as he just stands at the front of the room waiting for a response, then eventually resorts to randomly calling on someone. Tough grader also. I would not take him again.

Steffy is a very tough grader, but does want his students to do well. The class itself is rather boring, but I enjoyed the writing. He holds conferences for each unit paper which I have found to be helpful. He does a good job answering questions raised during class and is available for help through email or in his office. I would take him again.

Steffey was not a very passionate teacher... he didn't seem to like to teach class. so it was very hard to get into the class an actually put an effort if he wasn't putting in the effort. not very exciting. boring... didn't learn a thing

If you do the work and put effort into the papers you will succeed in his class. Offers a 1 on 1 conference before every paper is due which really helped me revise my drafts. Do the reading and participate in discussions and the class is quite enjoyable I learned a lot and didn't have to kill myslef to get the grade
