Awful just awful. Be prepared to learn everything on your own. He mumbles, jumps around, and does not understand how to explain things past what is written on his paper so do not bother asking for clarification.

4 tests and 1 final. A few extra credit assignments. OWL assignments count as 1 grade. He drops one test grade. He is VERY HARD. His lectures are long and very hard to understand him.

Dr. Marshall is so passionate about orgo but still teaches the way he did in the '70s. He still uses an ELMO projector for some of the notes or writes on the whiteboard (hard to read). His tests are so hard & he usually curves them because grades are so bad. There are extra credit opportunities that save so many people. He also slurs his words.

This was the worst class I have ever taken. Marshall does not help students and his lectures are pointless. He mumbles the entire time to the point where lectures are inaudible and he does not even try to answer any questions in class. He taught absolutely nothing during his lectures. Exams were ridiculously hard and he does not scale at all.

Orgo is no doubt a hard class, but Marshall is the probably one of the worst professors that teaches it. If you can avoid him I would advise you to do so. He stands in front of the board, uses an overhead that you can't see very well, and has trouble speaking clearly (he mumbles a lot). He's a nice guy and incredibly smart, just hard to understand.

People make Professor Marshall out to be the worst professor at QU. It reality, its the course itself not the professor that people hate. You really need to put in the time for orgo to get a good grade. If you show up to class and put the time in, an A is not out of the question. Four exams lowest is dropped and online HW that counts as a test.

Worst professor I have ever taken. I made a ratemyprofessor account just so I could warn people about him. Overall he is a nice person but AWFUL professor. He talks to the board, slurs his speach, and doesn't understand that students aren't pros at orgo like him and expects you to get it right away.

Orgo is a hard topic in general, but often times I feel as though Marshall makes it more difficult than needed. He is sometimes hard to understand and is all over the place in his notes. His practice exams are not like the regular exams. The book is easy to follow, so if you read that and do the homework questions, you'll do fine.

Organic chemistry is difficult but since Marshall got in trouble for curving and giving extra credit, its gotten worse. He rarely curves exams and gives minimal extra credit. He is an extremely tough grader and hardly ever gives partial credit. Definitely tough.

Dr. Marshall seems like a very nice individual, but organic chemistry is not easy. He has been getting yelled at about how much extra credit he gives, so now he offers 25 points maximum. Tests are hard, he curves sometimes. He also scales the class. If you try, you will not fail, but don't expect an A from anyone in organic chemistry.

Marshall is very student friendly. He curves and gives over 50 points in extra credit! His tests are fair if you really work and do the practice exam. He assigns problems in the text but they aren't at all what he teaches like. TAKE MARSHALL NOT SMITH!!!!

In my opinion, Marshall is the better orgo professor. He gives you endless resources to practice the material. He gives you a good amount of extra credit and gives upward mobility. The material is hard and confusing. Study the practice exams, notes, quizzes and use outside help (tutors or peer fellows), and you will manage to get a good grade.

Super hard class but he tries his best to make it clear and gives you a practice test that is really similar to the actual test. Tests are curved which helps a lot. Also, if you do better on your second test, he raises the mark on your first test. Do better on third, raises second (etc). Always wears a different funny tie to class, which is cute.

He is a good guy, but definetly NOT an easy one. During lectures, Marshall can be confusing at times. He literally blasts information at you as if there is no tomorrow. His tests are very challenging and he takes points for literally anything that does not meet his (high) standard of approval. However, I noticed that students who take orgo seriously tend to do very well (A's and B's). His tests are designed to be passable if you give time into them. You need to study intensively, attend all the lectures, do the on-line extra credits, give yourself 30 minutes of "self-orgo review" a night or 2 hours per weekend. Then you will get your B+ or even an A. Also, he drops the lowest test gradefinal (as of Fall 2014). Bottom line: Take Marshall only if you know you will PUSH yourself to get an A. Otherwise FIND SOMEONE ELSE (ie. Smith).

I'd suggest Marshall for lecture. He's the easier of the professors. He doesn't make much sense in lecture but if you do the hw assignments, read the book, and do the practice exams (just like the real exams) an A is doable. He gives 30+ points of extra credit right on top of your test grades AND drops a test. Not great at chem and I got an A.

I had a really hard time with this professor. He is difficult to understand and Orgo is not a subject that students grasp easily. You have to put in a TON of outside effort to understand the material, but his curves and extra credit can really make a difference.

He's not that bad! Yes he's difficult to understand sometimes and jumps around. But if you pay attention, and follow along the book you'll do fine. His practice exams are EXACTLY like his exams. Sometimes even the same questions are on there. And he's actually a really nice guy, really smart. I failed the first time I took it then got a B the second time, I had to do problems every day, but it was worth it. You literally need to dedicate at least 1 hour a day. But he's not bad. Totally do-able.

Dr. M is a great professor. He knows that orgo isnt the easiest and does his best to give his students the opportunity to succeed. He gives practice exams, extra credit, and even a 5-10 point curve to the exam every now and then. Read the book or go to the peer fellow reviews and you'll be fine. If your serious about premed, he prepares you well!

Professor Marshall is a great orgo techer. No matter the professor the subeject matter is really hard but he knows that. He makes it as simple as he can and really wants everyone to do well. If you put in the effort and go to all of the peer fellow review sessions you are golden. He drops the lowest test grade, curves and gives extra credit! TAKE!
