Comment:

Dr. Lazzaro is one of the best professors I've had at my time at CofC. His lectures can be somewhat hard to follow but he always answers questions and gives practice exams that help a lot. His tests are difficult, but doable and it balances out if you do all the readings and homework. I came in not taking AP Bio and I found his class so engaging!

Comment:

Dr. Lazzaro is thus far my favorite teacher! He approached cell bio with analogies that are simple and easy to understand. It's never a boring moment in class since he's hilarious. He will make you work for an A (@ 94+) but he gives you all the resources needed to succeed with specific textbook readings, videos and powerpoint slides that you need.

Comment:

Lazzaro is decent. His online lectures made more sense than his lectures in class. His tests were confusing at times, but if you take the practice tests a lot of those questions are on the exams. This class is challenging, but if you spend a lot of time reading the textbook and studying the material, it is doable.

Comment:

Dr. Lazzaro is one of the best biology teachers I have ever had. His lectures are highly engaging, and he uses the white board profusely so you are not frantically writing notes down off of a powerpoint slide. He is very receptive to questions in class, and all of the assignments are beneficial, little to no busy work. I highly recommend!

Tests are extremely hard. No grade booster is given. Your grade is made up of quizzes and 4 exams. He's a good guy but there's no reason for this level of difficulty. Good luck I guess.

Dr. Lazzaro can be one of those intimidating professors at first, but he's actually one of the best profs I've had at cofc. He gives you ALL the materials you need to succeed on his tests. They are hard but if you know the material, you'll do fine. The quizzes can really get to you thought so just be aware of them.

Mark Lazaro is my favorite professor after my 1st year at CofC. His classroom is very straightforward. He teaches what you need to know in class, so as long as you pay attention and take notes youll do great, with minimal outside work required. He also does a great job of breaking down complex topics while keeping lectures interesting and fun.

Cell Biology with Dr. Lazzaro was a pleasure - he really wants the students to learn! Which means in order to pass, you really have to learn the material - but it isn't impossible. He has three tests and a final mixed with the fourth test - as well as 4 point quizzes each Monday (8% of your grade). I would take him again - he's also hilarious!

He is the best Bio 111 prof at the CofC. He takes care to get to know his students. He's very funny and does his best to make the class interesting. Tests are difficult, but he works with you during office hours.

One of my favorite professors! the class is hard, but if you take good notes and study for the 4 tests you'll be fine. he gives optional but helpful homework and practice tests. He is very straightforward and his tests are not meant to trick you.

He was amazing! As long as you take good quality notes (from the powerpoint and especially what he writes on the board) you'll do great. It was super interesting thanks to him. If you do well on the 4 tests and work hard all semester, don't study hard for the final.

Dr. Lazzaro is a good professor, but tests are extremely difficult. If you struggle with tests DO NOT TAKE. There was no study guide for the final, just 38 powerpoints 10 to 14 slides long. There is no grade booster at all, entire grade is made up of test and quiz grades. I would not recommend this class to anyone unless you LOVE bio.

Comment:

Awesome professor that keeps heavy material lighthearted and fun! Lots of fun jokes and trivia in both lecture and lab. The only negative to the class is the grading scale, but one of the best professors at C of C for sure. I would take another class with him!

Dr. Lazzaro is my favorite professor at CofC! His tests are not as hard as previous ratings would make you think. You HAVE to go to class! His drawings and explanations really clarify the material. There is never a slow day in lecture, he sprints the whole semester. I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone that doesn't mind the hard work.

This was my first biology class in college, and I am so lucky to have had Dr. Lazzaro. Biology concepts can get confusing, but he explains it in a very engaging, clear way and is willing to help you if you still don't understand. He's hilarious, interesting, and gives a lot of optional (but extremely helpful) homework for studying. Best professor.

Dr. Lazzaro for cell biology is a really effective teacher. Its not easy, but its defiantly possible to make an A in his class. You have to study. Its not one of those classes where no matter how much you study you won't get the grade. He's hilarious and lab is just great with trivia! Take him and just know studying in his class will be worth it!

His class is tough but if you work hard, it will be worth it. Definitely go to class, you can get extra credit on quizzes at beginning of class. Go go go to the SI study group, it will help you understand concepts. Also make sure you do the homework he posts because they are at the end of the test and they are fill in the blank questions.

He knows what he is talking about and teaches the information effectively. If you go to SI, study the notes on a daily basis and take the practice exams you will be fine. The tests on the other hand are rigorous. If you do the above you will be fine though. I would definitely recommend him!
