Dr. Evans is really an awful teacher. He only reads off of bizarre powerpoints, and he only grades by weekly quizzes. The quizzes asked for the most specific unimportant details. He seemed so miserable teaching and it translated to the class. He also only grades based off of favorites and not what people get right and wrong.

DO NOT TAKE THIS MANS CLASS! I had him for genetics and almost everyone failed his class. No tests just weekly 30 point quizzes that are impossible and have NOTHING to do with what he taught. Doesn't teach and just reads off the powerpoint. Worst professor I have ever had. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Gives weekly 30 point quizzes. Quizzes are vague and focus on miniscule topics in PowerPoints. Just reads off PowerPoints for the class. However he does care about the success of his students.

There were 30 point quizzes once a week that were supposed to be based on the textbook and the PowerPoint shown in class. The quizzes are extremely difficult and thats after studying for them like a test. He grades everyones quizzes differently. The material on the quizzes is extremely specific and not based on main concepts but small details.

Do not take this Professor for Principles of Bio 1 Lecture, I have tried everything to get through this class, and being a student who studies hard, this was a tough decision, studying for this class is taking away from my other classes. AVOID.

Had him first semester freshman year. No tests just weekly 30 point quizzes. You really have to study for this class and understand the material not just memorize it. That being said, he really truly cares about his students and will help if you need it. Not just that, a friend needed help in lab and he went out of his way to get her help!

Avoid Evans at all costs for gen bio 2 lab. He is not helpful, rude, and creates the worst learning environment. It's lab and he tries to make it as difficult as possible and isn't consistent with grading at all. His quizzes were hard and he only cares about plants. He's pretty much the worst.

Dr Evans is the nicest, fairest and most helpful teacher at Manhattan College. If you take him, all you need to do is to listen in class and take good notes. I went into tests without touching the textbook. He is extremely fair and only tests on what he teaches. He is very willing to help you outside class, you can just pop into his lab and ask.

Had him for plant bio. The lab was super easy and the lectures interesting. He was always available in the am to answer any of my questions and helped me a lot with the lab reports (only 2 the whole semester). He is quite a tough grader but curves at the end of the semester. As long as you go to class and pay attention you'll be fine. Take him ;)

Dr. Evans is a nice guy, but he has NO business teaching a beginners class. he has absolutely no idea how to teach students who are NOT biology/ science majors. this class, taught by another professor, was easy. this class taught by Dr. Evans was the hardest class ive ever taken. DONT take him for it.

Dr. Evans is one of toughest profs I've had. Avoid him in Gen Bio if you just want a C to move on, definitley take his plant bio courses. He gives you the material that's going to be on the test but you must know it hands down. Outisde of the classroom he's an awesome guy, and a real champ for the bio dept. I plan on taking him agin for sure.

Teaching is very straightforward. Many Quizzes that require ample atudying. Grades on a number scale which is frustrating. A big opposer of "grade inflation". Regardless of where you stand with respect to the others in the class, your grade is what you get. Outside class, he's a funny, stand-up guy who is quite helpful.
