Terrible instructor. Tests are nothing like the practice problems in class. He cancelled class a lot. Only 4 tests and thats your grade. I went to tutoring, never skipped class, read and studied and that barely lead me to pass. His lectures were hard to follow. I suggest taking a different section with a different teacher. I was disappointed.

Attendance is not mandatory, but go to class! There are only 4 tests, no homework or quizzes so going to class is helpful. Get the book because that'll help you study and be prepared for the tests.

You have 4 exams each worth 100 points and that's the grade you get. No homework. No extra credit. Attend lectures and get the book! To get an A in the class you need an 85% which is helpful. Good luck

He will go off on tangents about things that are unrelated to class. Will also go over too many practice examples and makes class extremely boring. also his tests are nothing like what he says they will be. I studied for every one and still did bad. his lectures dont help at all

Had him for phil of science and religion. Fairly easy course material, didn't buy the book, just make sure to use online resources. His lectures were long and he didn't have power point, which made it boring but he was easy to understand as long as you kept focus. My attendance was poor and I recommend showing up to class. Study for the tests.

You can't really teach someone to think critically. I attended every class session, tutoring, and studied for countless hours with class mates still not being enough to pass while my roommate managed to pass while only showing up on exam days and not purchasing the book.

Took this class the first semester of my freshman year and was so disappointed in the teaching. He constantly canceled class causing us to fall behind, forcing us to learn an entire unit in a week before the final. Your grade is based off four tests, nothing else. Tests are poorly worded and the lectures make it very unclear as to what to study.

Worst teacher I've ever had in my entire life. Doesn't make clear what is on the tests or how the questions on the test will be asked. He will yell at you if you try to leave class when its been over for 5 minutes. The only points in the entire class are 4 tests each worth 100 points. If you take this class goodluck!!

By far the worst professor I've ever had. Tests are nothing like what we go over in class. He words things terribly on his tests and makes everything super confusing. I went to every single tutor session and studied for hours and days ahead and could never get above a 75% on his tests. Doesn't offer extra credit, doesn't give study guides, doesn't answer questions adequately, doesn't really care whether his students pass or fail.

No clarification for tests, which are the only things in the grade book. Slides during class are not very helpful and he doesn't preparer students for the test at all. Talks a lot and very boring.

Daguerre is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory, skipping lecture is pretty detrimental to understanding concepts. Entire grade is based off of four tests, no assignments, no extra credit. Very conceptual class, but he does well at making sure his students can apply the concepts by doing lots of examples.

Terrible office hours. Grade based on tests only. Doesn't offer extra credit so if you don't go to class and take notes on everything he says you won't pass. Doesn't tell you what chapters to read corresponding to what he goes over in class. Would never take his class again

go to class and pay attention and take notes and it should be pretty easy. The tests are difficult but if you study and actually know it without just memorizing youll be okay. no homework, tests are your entire grade. hes a cool guy and really makes sure we understand the material. barely used the book. takes role.

I love his teaching, he is very clear and answered all our questions in a respectful, helpful way. The subject is a bit tough but totally do-able. Your grade is made up of 4 exams, just study, go to his office hours & GO TO CLASS. The people who complain about his class are the people who wouldn't show up except on exam days. You should be fine!

The tests are extremely unclear and often times have several correct answers to a question. You only take four tests, but thats all your grade depends on due to the fact that he does not assign anything else. I would not take this class if I had the option to.

Marcel is a very interesting teacher that is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. Critical thinking is a difficult subject to master, and that's where the difficulty of this course comes into play. He does a good job of explaining the material simply so that it is easier for students to comprehend. His stories and examples help with clarity.

Marcel is by far the worst teacher i have ever had at chico. He doesn't care about his students, is very unclear about what will be on the tests, and his teaching/grading style is ridiculous. If you don't show up to class you will fail, and even if you do you will most likely fail. He has a 65% fail rate

His class gives you no area to fail. There's not hw, no attendance, no assignments. Just four exams all worth 100 pts each. Its either you do well or not. Don't like his teaching style much, stick on the same subject for many days. Don't recommend. Take someone different!
