Her class was easy and very enjoyable. My only advice is keep up with when things are actually due, because her syllabus is subject to change.

I signed up for this class expecting it to be somewhat of a creative writing class, but it wasn't. Dr. Sciolino, however, was a great professor and if she had not been the teacher I probably would not have had as much of a good time as I did.

Dr. Sciolino is scatterbrained, but I love her for that! She has a passion for English and the environment and combines them in her class. She is easy and doesn't believe in grades, so if you do her assignments, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. She only assigned three essays for my class. I honestly didn't learn much, but I enjoyed writing.

Sciolino has a syllabus that says when things are due but never follows it. She relates everything to the environment. In 102H, you only write one 10 page paper on any topic you want. Very easy class.

this class is pretty easy but her grading is inconsistent.. I got an A on a paper and on the next I got a C.. but worked on them both equally? also, i don't understand how her class relates to english because we usually talk about corporations or the environment..

She's a very interesting teacher and she makes you really think. I enjoyed the novels that she chose and while we didn't have a class textbook, we did reference our novels a lot. The discussion in the class was very stimulated and she asked a lot of thought-provoking questions. Love the class!!

Prof. Sciolino requires her students to think. I know that seems harsh but..hey! I found that I had to do my own work and ask reasonable questions! This is the type of professor we should find more of in big kid's college. Her classes are thought provoking and introspective. Take her if you care to think. I know I am a better writer because her.

Most of the commetators don't get it. Time to grow up and deal with life. Dr. Sciolino's style makes sense if you consider her thoughts as something more than a vocational class to get a job. Open your brains, that is what Sciolino is trying to get through to you. Stop looking at your watches and day planners and clue into the class. I get it.

Comment:
Sciolino is very disorganized. Class focused very little on writing--we mainly talked about how we can benefit the environment. :| It's hard to know what's going on in the class each week. I feel my writing improved somewhat, but not to the extent it could have had we focused more on writing. Overall, not a terrible class, but not recommended.

Was unhappy with my grade, as were many other women in my class. After polling several classmates I learned she gave more A's to the men than the women. MANY women received B's - it just was not fair. Also, Martina is very disorganized.

I had three classes with her. She's extremely smart and her discussion based classes are enjoyable and helpful but when it comes to assignments, schedules, etc. she's not organized. She rescheduled my presentation 3 times & still called me to present on the wrong day. She was helpful as an adviser.
