He's currently teaching at UC Irvine for Stats 67. I am in his class and...sigh...i am so clueless. Phelan=failing. He's too smart to teach. He expects that everything he writes, we will understand. Unfortunately, that's very hard for someone who has never taken a stats class, like me. I hope the curve will be high enough so he doesn't kill my GPA!

He is teaching at UC Irvine now. This guy is utterly useless....the entire class consisted of 6 HW assignments which didn't pertain to the exams at all, two 15 pt. quizzes , a 25 pt. MT and 30pt. final. The average of the exams was about 50%. He is not responsive to emails and if you ask him a question he will ridicule you. AVOID HIM!!!

Worst teacher I have had at Chapman. Period. He didn't give out a syllabus, he didn't announce when homework was due (I accidentally missed homework by not Blackboard frequently enough). He changed the grading curve mid-semester, didn't hand out course evaluations, called out people in class and embarrassed them, and was just a bad teacher!! RUN

HORRIBLE teacher simply bc he does not teach. bad lectures that dont relate to hmwk at all, making the online, multiple choice, graded homework basically impossible to do well on..trust me, avoid him at all costs. i ended up dropping the class to retake it next year...he's beyond the worst teacher i've ever had in my life.

absolutely the worst teacher i have ever had! he doesn't teach- he expects you to do it all yourself. everyone in the class thought that he hated them(including me). and going to class was worthless- you never learned anything....and he doesn't let you do an evaluation at the end....try to AVOID this guy AT ALL COST!!!!!

so i took this guy after hearing of his **** "no fail, nobody gets lower than a c policy." first of all, its a LIE!! outright LIE!! every single person i spoke to in my class FAILED!! the quizzes are impossible, the paper is ridiculous, the man can't teach to save his life and he's unhelpful, i wasted a semester in his class didn't nething!!

He has a reputation on campus not only with students, but also faculty. Phalen is just one of those ppl who has a hard time connecting with people around him. Ive taken a much more advanced stats course before. The structure of the class sucks. MY ENTIRE GRADE WAS BASED ON NO MORE THAN 25 MC QUESTIONS WIEGHTED AT ABOUT 4.5pts A POP.

If you hear about his no fail policy...yeah, that's a lie. His tests are improssible and he is an unbelievably poor teacher. He's not willing to help you outside or inside the classroom. The tests are impossible, the final project is a ridiculous waste of time, and the labs offer no purpose whatsoever. if you ask him for help on anything he will just blow you off and forget about him responding to emails, IT DOESN'T HAPPEN! phelan is a failer!!

Where to start, oh yeah the worst teacher ever. I got a 17% on a midterm, what was it after the curve a C+, WTF kinda teacher is that, when you get one answer right out of seven you get a C. And oh oh oh, are you teaching statistics, no just about vaccines and other useless knowledge. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! I am an honor student who took the class P/F after realizing he was incomprehensible. I went and asked him what I should be doing to do well in the course(ie. study parts of chapters) and he yelled at me and said the class was designed to keep people like me from passing!!! I have just officially not passed with 20 others.
