Dr. M is the best professor Ive ever had. She is incredibly knowledgeable and really cares about her work. Her classes are hard, but you actually learn. If youre willing to put in the work you will get so much out of her class.

After having Dr Melzer two semesters in a row, I came to truly appreciate the kind of professor she is. If you had any questions or concerns about material or work, she always worked with you until you had a grasp on it. While it's a lot of work that you really have to keep up with, it really helps further your education and ability as a student!

At first she comes off as super tough and gives lots of work, and she does make you work for it, but she is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's in the Gender Studies and German department, has a quirky sense of humor, and will talk about ANYTHING with you. After her class you really grasp the material and look at the world differently.

She's a fantastic professor, and If you're are truly or even vaguely interested in the subject you will have a good time. She is great at making clear the readings you do outside of class as homework which is helpful when you go back and do your writing assignments.

Ms. Melzer is very particular about following direction for papers. The midterm and final are the only papers that she asks you to write. She's very passionate. There're 3 books she assigns you to read that vary from 100 to 300 pages. No pop-quizes or tests. Class discussion is very valued. She cares, and she's gorgeous.

I took her class about Women Involved in Radical Social Movements as a GenEd, if you dont have timewant to read 4 300+ books in a semester dont take the class. we work in group often. She often cuts people off if we debate in class, which I get that cause she has to cover certain material. papers are easy, 3 page misterm 5 page final, no tests

I've had her for multiple classes and have never experienced her 'picking favorites'. I'm neither a lesbian nor an outstanding student and she still treated me with complete respect (claimed criteria in other posts). She takes students seriously. She is kind, insightful, patient, and wise, and is passionate about what she teaches.

Patricia is a really cool prof and person. But she does play favorites especially if you are an LGBT student or gay person in general. Sometimes she talks over people's heads when she tries to explain concepts, it sounds like she's speaking another language. Otherwise she is very intelligent and her classes are engaging and fun.

Catty and plays favorites. You'd better watch your ass if you want to discuss aspects of a text that she hasn't prepared for.

Such a fun and engaging person, especially discussing science fiction. Her class is tough, lots of reading and you are expected to do good writing, but she's not unfair. If you are interested in the subject matter, you will love her classes, and she does make an effort to get to know you individually. Awesome professor.

Approx. 100-150 pages of reading each week & ONE "discussion question" addressing every reading. Assignment existed just to "make sure we're reading." Workload was so heavy I had to withdraw. On the plus side, absolutely awesome & nice; emailed her after I withdrew and she sent back a thoughtful reply about my major.

Hmmm...I have to agree with the last person in that she does have favorites. I didn't participate and didn't have as strong of a interest as the other students in the class. However, despite the fact that I got at least a B- on all of my papers, I still ended up with a C in the class.
