Prof. Wise's Film 1000 class online is a really cool experience. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about the film, and having it online taught me to be more productive with my time. Ramsay is an awesome online instructor :)

Great teacher. If hes available, take him. Maybe not an "Easy A" but very engaging and strives to see students improve. He likes to focus his classes on fun, less serious material, which is great for engagement.

One of the coolest film teachers I've ever had. He definitely knows his stuff, especially pop culture references. His class is extremely laid back, and the in class conversations were so much fun!

He is amazing! He makes everything fun in class when you have class. He understands that as students your time is valuable so if you are able to do something on your own time he cancels class or lets his students leave early. He is always available through email or after class and is so helpful! If you can't make it to class let him know no biggy!

DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! Each lesson has a hefty paper analysis. I managed to forgo watching the movies and wrote my papers based on IMDB analysis, trailers and his long synopses. He tends to grade each paper in the same range. I'm convinced he skims. Remember, no more than 3 assignments can be submitted in a 7 day period-don't let this screw you over

Comment:

The man is a legend. Prof. Wise will easily go down as one of my favorites. Not only was his class completely engaging, but it was also fun and enlightening. I would definitely recommend him if you are looking for an organic, conversation-based class with a great film selection. Lots of quizzes and a few writing assignment, but it's all cake.

Each lesson you had to write 3-4 page papers, but the course is not listed as a writing intensive. The movies he chose for the lessons were very old and hard to find. The lessons weren't very clear on what to do and were sometimes repetitive. Would not recommend this course or professor!

I look forward to this class every time. Dr. Wise is laid back but knows his film. I swear, you could make any reference and he would know exactly what you were talking about. You will learn a lot and enjoy his sense of humor!

I'm taking his trends in world cinema class, which I thought could end up being dull. However Ramsay is very passionate about film which makes lectures more interesting. It doesn't hurt that he's pretty laid back and hilarious. He always has the class cracking up. There's a lot of reading but it is manageable. I hope to take another class of his.

I took an online film class taught by Prof. Ramsay. He was a fair grader and extremely quick in returning papers (sometime's I'd get my grade back within a couple of hours). I would definitely recommend him if you have the chance to take his class.

Literally the best, coolest professor I've had all throughout college. He's hilarious, does South Park impressions, and is super passionate about film. He seriously knows his stuff and he encourages creativity. In short? He's really awesome.

I took his film class. From a student's perspective it's a great class because there's barely any material. Wise doesn't have much material to teach and it shows - so he calls off class a lot, and the classes he doesn't call off, he shows video clips just to fill the time. All he needs is a 20 minute class period in addition to the screening.

Ramsay is a very laid-back and nice professor. He's one of the best professors I've ever had at Mizzou. His class and tests are easy. He is also very funny at times and facilitates discussion in the class very well. His teaching style makes students interested in the material.

He is such a nice guy and really cares about the subject and his students. Keep in mind that just because you are in a film class doesn't mean that you are not going to have to do any work--keep up with the reading and do research on your own time. A class with Ramsay is definitely worth taking.
