Comment:

Absolutely Horrible professor. Im normally an A or B student when it comes to math, but i got a 1.5 in this class. He is extremely quiet and monotone. He writes on and faces the white board the entire time, you cannot hear him and his class consists of 5 extremely hard tests which are usually 6 questions. Do not take randy he absolutely sucks.

Comment:

Diff Eq is going to be difficult no matter who you take it with. Lots of hw with each problem being graded. Gives reviews before each test. Tests were easier compared to hw. Lecture was a bit all over the place, he writes notes on the board. Offers lots of extra credit! He also responds to emails quickly. If you work 20+ hours a week, BEWARE!

I thought Professor Schwartz is amazing. Even though some people may find him monotone. I think he is amazing if you get to know him and go to his office hours and ask for help. You should take if you are interested in the material then you will enjoy it.

Comment:

Homework takes hours to complete and there is no guarantee of getting 10/10 on it because of how tough of a grader he is. Doing bad on one test can severely affect your grade to the point of almost no return. Only one or two extra credit opportunities. He gives notes that can be used with the textbook, but often have difficulty seeing connections.

I was doing bad in the class and I asked him if he knew a tutor. He gave me some contact information. Not even 7 days later he wrote on one of my tests that with my alegbra skills, I wouldn't even pass MATH 53. I have passed all the way up through calc 3. It was just rude and unprofessional for him to put down a student who asked for help.

Hard class if you don't study. If you do the homework you will be fine. Great lectures, explains everything in detail. Exams are based on study guide and he also offers extra credit. One of the best professors I had for math class.

I dont fail classes but Shwartz teaching skills are so poor and outdated I was completely lost the entire time. Sometimes its easier to learn from the book but unfortunately, stats is in a different language. He writes the whole lecture (all #'s) on a white board and erases it after. hardly any notes and super monotone while teaching. DONT TAKE HIM

This was the hardest class I have ever taken. Lectures every class confuse you even more. prepare for hours of pointless homework... Lots of papers and hard tests. you will be graded on a few tests and few quizzes plus homework on correct answers and correct work.

He is not bad at all. Do your best, put some effort into it, study and do all your homework. Exams are based on your homework. It might seem challenging or overwhelming but you can do this! And I am not good at math, still managed to get a good grade.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Professor Schwartz is THE most effective professor in the math department at SC. His lectures are great! While they may be dry, he explains things thoroughly and is happy to meet with you if you have trouble understanding something. But, he assigns A LOT of homework. If you miss one day, you're done for.

Gives a ton of homework, although it isn't hard. Lectures and homework cover the basics of the material, but the tests cover things that he never went over. You can't ask questions similar to the test because the homework and quizzes are so different.

Terrible! He is very confusing and does not answer your questions. Lots of homework every single night and the test are 2 to 6 questions so if you get one wrong you fail. Multiple students have asked him to go over certain homework problems and he tells us no because it takes too long so we all end up doing bad on the test. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!

Comment:

Schwartz is a dry lecturer but he knows his stuff and is passionate. His classes are very homework heavy so make sure to put aside time. You need to know the material in order to do well but if you know the homework then exams are not bad. If you are a motivated student I highly recommend him for any math class.

Great professor, excellent explanation, covers most of the material. Tough grader but excellent professor, I would definitely take this class again. Make you work a lot but you learn a lot...... Always willing to help you and explain you anything. Offers office hours and always explain and help you til you understand........ Excellent professor.

The worst teacher I have ever had at Schoolcraft College. I'm good at math, but he makes it extremely confusing and complicated. He speaks in a monotone and doesn't really answer the question asked, he just re-explains the problem again. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone. If you value your gpa, do not take this professor.

I had 4.0s in every math class I took, until I took this class. Statistics is hard and the lectures were so boring. DO NOT MISS THIS CLASS, you will not be able to catch up since he does not teach from the book. Tests are weird, only 2-6 questions on them and the tests are worth 100pts. Does offer some extra credit but it's hard to get.

There is a total of 8 exams in his diff eq class. assigns WAY to much homework, that is worth points. If you are like me and work 40 hours, this class will be extremely stressful. I advise you to stay away from this teacher. He speaks in a monotone voice, flys thru lecture and his notes are very sporadic. Ive gotten A's in calc 1,2 and 3. stay away

He speaks in a very soft, monotone voice so it is difficult to pay attention during a lecture. He tries to do too much and expects everyone to grasp the material the first time it is presented. I would recommend taking another professors class if you want to receive a respectable grade.
