Comment:
Dr. Anderson's shows his M.O. quite clearly. If he likes you he will do everything for you, even breaking his vaulted "rules" which he applies only to people he does not like. If he does not like you, he will apply every rule to you to try to make you fail. Nothing else matters in this course.

Great Professor, Great Priest. I loved this course. It addressed the issue of American racial segregation and South African racial apartheid through the lens of race and religion. He's "old school", though a young prof. -- attendance mandatory, deadlines enforced. This was not the usual SLU easy "A" course. Wish there were more like him at SLU.

Race and Religion seminar was tough, challenging but worth it. Fr. Anderson was very considerate when I had personal problems and needed extra time to submit my work. I enjoyed the classroom experience because the discussions were lively. He is well informed on the issue on Catholics and racism. I would take him again.

Civil Rights -- great course, knowledgeable instructor, interesting lectures, 3 race movies with free pizza, however, have to know the book and lecture material to earn a high grade

I hope I have the right Robert Anderson, this guy was a priest yet I'm not sure how. He was condecending at times and unopen to other viewpoints. Other days he was cheerful. I would not take any history classes of his again, instead just read a history book - you'll get more out of it.

Really frusturating class--Fr. Anderson cannot directly answer a question and is not very helpful. If you can avoid it, would not suggest this class. I enjoyed history prior to the class, but now just feel disengaged.

Fr. Anderson has a high opinon of himself and that always seems to come through in lectures. Sometimes he can be boorish, but often its funny.

Fr. Anderson is tough but fair -- you have to study to pass his tests which means lazy students should not take this course (reading the textbook actually helps)

He is an arrogant man, whose grading style is absolutely rediculous. He is condesending, and doesn't want his students to succeed.

GREAT SEMINAR CLASS!!! He's tough -- have to write and rewrite -- but it was worth it. Relaxed atmosphere in class as we could joke with Fr. Anderson. He knows his topic (Civil Rights) and is enthusiastic about it

Fair grader, and not too hard if you actually study. He's very liberal and opinionated, though, so you'll have to put up with his blathering occassionally. Otherwise, not a bad class. I learned a lot.

professional, tough tests, provides handouts, looks/acts intimidating but he's not, ultimately an easy grader -- just stick with the class, ask questions and see him during office hours to get "browny points" -- he likes that
