Professor Block was a lecturer that I really enjoyed, and I found that she explains concepts very simply and clearly. She has a really good sense of humor and has a way of conveying even serious subject matters humorously to lighten the mood. Would definitely take a class with her again.

Loved Professor Block! There is no final, but something she calls a "Celebration of Learning" which is a take home final, open notes. Her lectures are extremely engaging, and I got really into this subject even though I am not a history major by any means. Definitely recommend this class :)

She is one of the best professors at UCI. She's an engaging, interesting, funny, and knowledgeable lecturer. Her class was interesting and covered all different types of sexuality in early history with regards to whites, blacks, and Native Americans. The class involved a fair amount of reading and work, but I enjoyed it.

Prof. Block is AMAZING, and I can't wait to take another class with her. She is very funny and warm, and class was always entertaining (and often laugh-out-loud). However, she instructed her TAs to grade pretty hard, but it was still SO worth being taught by her. She made a large lecture hall feel like we were all in her living room.

Block is way cooler than the 40b teacher. her lectures are interesting, as well as focused on specific areas. For instance i took her American Revolution course, she has lectures specifically on religion, economics, indians, and many more. I find it easier to learn from teachers who have focus.

She is a wonderful teacher who is very passionate about her subject. The only thing that made the class hard was that the midterm and final were REALLY time consuming and the TA's grading systems were all really different. Still, not too hard to earn an A.

lectures are very well organized and she really makes things interesting. assignments are not hard, but very annoying since you have to do everything in a specific way they want you to. for some it might be hard to adjust to this stupid system, but getting a B should be easy

She was a pretty funny professor who made the class go by pretty fast. You definitely should attend the lectures and do the readings because that's all the take-home tests are based on. Interesting class! Only thing that I really hated was the take-home mid-term and final because it was so time consuming.

shes super funny and personable. she makes time fly by. shes so organized and clear--you learn so much in so little time. readings are very interesting and comparitively light. shes a little liberal (everythings race, class, gender with her) but she has so many primary sources to back her arguments you cant help but agree. take her class!!!

Class is hard if you dont go to lecture and not do the readings. Very interesting and clear lecturer. TA grade a little hard but the extra credit really helped alot in the end. The take home midterm and final and the assignments take alot of time. Interesting class but hard work required.
